Global Playerlist

Currently there's somebody using the Global Playerlist to mass on Classic, massing very rude things, and I can't touch them because they simply aren't on Classic.

Hell, local bans are pointless. Somebody's banned on Classic? Hop on another server and PM from there. I'm not even going to give people ideas how to abuse that.

So uh, maybe a global playerlist isn't a wonderful idea. :whatever:

maybe disabling mass global pms. i mean the purpose of the global list is to contact a friend on another server, not EVERYONE!

Nabru 09-05-2005 04:05 AM

Or maybe GP teams on servers should work together to stomp people like this.

StrykerTFFD 09-05-2005 04:32 AM

Even then, a person simply can't be jailed on every server for breaking rules on other servers.

napo_p2p 09-05-2005 05:47 AM

Or, maybe you shouldn't be able to PM people on a server that you are banned on.

I thought that was fixed.

And I didn't think massing to another server was possible, me and a friend tried it and did not work.

It wasn't fixed, I just got a PM from someone banned asking me to unban them.

It's fine until they start harrassing and insulting you, and you can't really do anything about it because they're on another server and RC lacks an ignore feature.

Bl0nkt 09-05-2005 09:03 AM

Or simply disable PMs on servers you are banned on.

Local bans will be enforced soon, will be easier once the central ban database is used for local bans.
For now try to contact a global admin to get the people globally banned.

I thought you couldn't mass message on a server that you aren't on, only PM...
Guess I was wrong? Or am I missing something?

StrykerTFFD 09-05-2005 11:09 PM

I thought you couldn't as well, until I saw this person doing it.

Even then, the problem isn't the masses, it's the fact they can't be touched if they break rules, say harassing another person.

You can't send global mass messages. I've tested it before and just tested it again to make sure. I also made Lance my evil henchman and got him to test it too. It doesn't work.

Well they were appearing as mass messages. Possible bug?

Either way, the masses aren't my point, the point I'm making is somebody can harass others from another server and can't be touched.

Looks like it will show up as a mass message if you type "Mass message:" as the first line (case sensitive) >_<

StrykerTFFD 09-06-2005 02:22 AM

Well I know that.
I had people responding to the person and complaining, so they were getting the same message I was.

I have a question about the Global Guild Tab. Will you be able to view global guild members even if they do not have their tag on? You should be able to, right?

No, they're only displayed if they are on their tag. It should be that way in my opinion, otherwise there would be tons of guilds in the list giving useless information. If you want to look for certain people it should be easier with the version that was released today (global buddylist).
