Pirates at the big 5 meeting.

At the RP meeting between all 5 kingdoms the pirates chose to patrol the samurai shores, after boarding 2 of thier boats i had trouble finding a pirate in b mode.. apart from kilik, they were also shouting all kinds of abuse etc, the RP'ing standards of these pirates at the event was disgraceful.

Zurkiba 07-31-2005 10:21 PM

The Governess in the summit kept shouting OOC stuff like
'It's only a game'

Alan was doing the same thing, only not as bad.

Draenin 07-31-2005 10:27 PM

Please excuse me while I cry myself to sleep.

Raziel 08-01-2005 02:22 AM

On another note, I hear the Samurai presence at the summit was nothing short of pathetic...

Hm i felt the Samurai did well, we had navel vessels guarding, a guard for the castle, samurai patrolling the island, it all went rather smoothly, we also delt with the pirate attacks, if it is thier RP as a whole you are slaming its true it is not perfect, but they did try which is more then i can say for atleast most of the pirates.

VulcanP2P 08-01-2005 02:39 AM

He was commenting on the immature Samurai in the embassy. Bosh agrees that they were very immature.

Debaglio 08-01-2005 03:27 AM

The summit was a joke.....

Of course he was! Remember, he was on that secondary trial account, evading his ban.

I think he's just mad because Kilik owned him. But there's no doubt the Pirates can use some improvement in RP, that's a valid point. We are trying, with a training program for new members. So I hope you see some improvement next time we cross paths.

You had ONE vessel guarding the island when the pirate boats arrived. It was sunk. You never had more than two ships in the water during the summit at any given time, and those were sunk in minutes. I'm thinking that's what Raziel was referring to.

I'm afraid that the leadership there of needs training also :/

xAndrewx 08-01-2005 09:27 AM

I have a couple of screenshots with the pirates not being in character.
One of them saying 'LOL LOOK AT THE NOOB!!'.
Not to sure if it was a war or not,
but only 1 member of the Pirate fleet
was battle mode.
My lightning took care of that though :-).

I couldn't attend the summit, I was too busy protecting the Samurai island.
The 'event' was fun though. I loved it, :-). Thanks

Perhaps you didn't notice that kilik was the only pirate i actually praised, he alone was in b mode and the 2 peaceful mode people left on the boat after i had taken over it let him on the boat, and after a intense battle i was forced to abandon ship...still those 2 peaceful moders who i couldn't do anything about wouldn;t of been there if they were not p mode ;)

I didn't meet any samurai in the battle that was IC, unless "omfg lag is glitching my boat" is Japanese for something. RP is something ALL kingdoms could be better at, I feel it's unfair for CP to be singled out---really, pirates sink boats, and in that respect I'd say we RPed the sinkosity well.

P.S. Yes, I know "sinkosity" is a made up word, trust me, I'm a fluent speaker of English as my second language.

Who exactly said that Cheops? There was 3 people vs the Pirates.
Name and shame the person!

I like the person that said that---no namedropping from me. However it wasn't the only OOC samurai comment made. Sometimes you just can't help and make OOC comments, especially when the circumstances are such that it overruns IC aspects of the RP. Maybe not excusable but understandable. Also, I feel like people expect at least an "arrr" or "har" or "ahoy" or "avast" per sentence from us, otherwise it's "bad RP." But unlike most kingdoms, our ranks are filled with very diverse people (former elves, Dustarians, samurai) who don't experience a change in diction just because they join CP.

But as Alan already said, we're working on it. First thing's first: gotta walk the walk before you talk the talk.

P.S. In total, over the span of the summit, there were 5 people involved against the pirate blockade (not counting you, since I didn't notice you, but I did notice your spells---that would make 6).

xAndrewx 08-01-2005 11:03 AM

I can count 4 from the Samurai fleet.
Myself, Craigus, Tenjin and [forgot their name, know the account though].
Anyway, that's not the point. As long as we had fun, I sure did.
Please just make it more fun, go battle mode. So we can invade ships etc.

Can't really expect that from new members who are still developing their character. Besides, there's the obvious point that if you can't kill them, they can't kill you.

The b/p-mode dilemma is a valid one, though, but I can see LOTS of new members being discouraged from RPing if it means they can be run down by a lvl 110, who'll deplete their plat and diamonds and may even make them drop an ammy. Maybe instead of dropping loot when you die, players should be warped to some nether region for like 10 minutes of gameplay? But I digress, this is the wrong thread to say this in, but I'm saying it anyway.

Draenin 08-01-2005 12:24 PM

Okay, so some kingdom members went out of character a bit. What do you want done about it? I don't think it's all that big of a deal. Most of the people on GK should be able to handle a lot that's said to them. Especially you, Craig. The event went on like it should've with a few hitches here and there. You can't expect everyone to act as they should.

xAndrewx 08-01-2005 01:01 PM

When a kingdom invades another kingdom, we expect them to be battle mode. :p

Draenin 08-01-2005 01:25 PM

I'm confused. At first, Bosh was trudging around saying, "Blast those Pirates and their blockade!" But then when Alan arrived things went normal. I know Bosh also said something about a change of plans, so perhaps it was to stop the fighting on the seas? Fill me in.

xAndrewx 08-01-2005 02:24 PM

When Alan arrived, the pirates began to attack Samurai. While you were in the Embassy at the Summit, Samurai members were protecting our island.

Draenin 08-01-2005 04:26 PM

The sequence in which I saw things was 1.) Bosh Complaining, 2.) Bosh talking of a change of plans, 3.) Alan arriving. It's no big deal, though. Just trying to clear up some confusion.

No, because that's using ooc items in a roleplaying event. And I know I'm not going to spend a week levelling up and getting good gear just so that I can roleplay.

You expect to not be killed, when roleplaying?

We didn't invade Samurai, which is why b-mode wasn't required (although Criagus has a good point about boarding and taking ships, so next time in a similar circumstance I will require it). This part of the event was meant to be a naval engagement with the huge Samurai fleet - some good ole bloody fun with Samurai Renjin and his boys. After all, who could advertise fielding a big fleet on forums and not expect to attract the attention of bloodthirsty Pirates. ;) Overall, I thought the battles and interactions were handled well on both sides, with a few RP violations that can be dealt with and learned from.

xAndrewx 08-01-2005 05:29 PM

Hehe, I enjoyed it. Was alot of fun ;-). We only used 1 ship from the shipyard. We had like 11 left, hehe.

Draenin 08-01-2005 05:34 PM

Thanks for the word, Alan. =]

Actually, Zurkiba Zaeri is going to die at the hands of the Drow soon.

However, I do know that a Queen of Dustari from a while back (Zoe) could kill me in one hit. And I'm sure that a Queen of Dustari wouldn't be able to kill the Elder Zurkiba Zaeri- conquerer of the Bomy Nation, slayer of the Samurai nation, controller of 3/4s of the world.

I like this idea ^. 10 minutes in the dead zone when you die instead of dropping plat and items. It would definetely encourage more people to get into bmode.

Nah, to encourage people to go in bmode, you make it more equal.

To make it more equal, you work your ass off to level up more , and the work pays off. I know level 10 or whatever you are was not bad at all back when you got to it, so who says you can't get up to a nice level today?

Make what more equal, you mean make both Zurkiba and Cheops controllers of 3/4 of the world? Or you mean make both Zurkiba and Cheops lvl 8?

I'm not going to 'work my ass off' to roleplay.

I've already worked my ass off to get to level 8, and that was an acomplishment. I think there should be an inflation of money and exp in accordance to how long you've been playing.

Level 10 was the highest back in the day, I had 80% of that. So I should be level 88 now eh?

Zurkiba only controlled it when he conquered it for the Zormite Empire. Soo
And it would be more like add my K-mode so there could be wars.

Hey, I can reach that in an hour!
Zurk, if you wanted to RP fairly, learn to level.

No, because it still isn't roleplaying. It's using game mechanics to PK.
