Chapter Four: Green Envy
The hull of a ship came crashing into the shore. Its sail shielded the rays of the sun beams that bathed the crashing tide.
"Home again!" Shouted an elven man as he lept from the mast. Floating like a feather, he fell onto the ground. His body accepted the harbors embrace as he rolled in the sand. Turning to his back he lay still for hours, looking into the sky watching the clouds pass. He was relieved to be back after a long absence. As the sun began to set, he climbed back aboard the ship and threw his bags and chest overboard. Several trips were needed to secure the belongings inside his residence. The sounds of the forest echoed even more than he had remembered. It seemed to him as though the spirit of the forest had changed. It was not certain if this was a gain or loss in energy. Smoldering his fire, he then retired so that he would be ready to leave for Main bright and early. The next morning the elven lust had caused him had beaten the birds to breakfast. He was already on Main before the sun broke the horizon. He was very excited to see his old friends, and speak of the tales he had experience while he was away. He overheard some pirates talking about a death. It was a surprise that his distant cousin had been killed. Startled by the tale he lost his balance and fell over, knocking his mug spilling its contents onto the ground causing a huge scene. He tried to stand but a blade was pressed to his chest. A pirate stood over the top of the elve snarling the name of his distant relative. The pirate demanded his blood and applied more pressure to the tip of his weapon. A small man stepped from the shadows and kicked the blade from its offensive position. "This is clearly not a dead man sir." The small man looked at the fallen elve offering to help him stand by outstretching his weapon hand. "Stand, and do not be frightened." He said with confidence helping the elve to his feet. "Although you look vaugly familiar, I see no harm coming from you." The elve quickly revealed his relationship with the man of the story, and was then taken out of the pub with haste. Confused, and curious he accepted this mans invitation to another building. They stood inside the post office behind the desk, hiding from view. "Sir your cousin has caused a great deal of turmoil within all of the surrounding kingdoms." "I suggest you consult Bile, to bring the essence of your relative to this world once again, so you may know the truth of his actions." "Many slanderous stories from the east and west have caused his true story to be twisted." "People of great wealth and power have spoken out about him, and he has been banished by death." "His story is so epic, they young still look for him around every turn." "They have made a legend out of your cousin, and now laws have been created so that such an incident will never happen again." Angered by the past, the elve thanked the man and set off towards the north. Bile would be his only key to understanding the events that had happened in his absence. Reaching the alter with blinding speed, he removed his hat. Bowing before the alter he prayed for hours. Weeks passed and the he did not move. It was on the twenty sixth sunrise that he felt it. His soul possessed, Bile gave him the true vision that he had been asking for. Now angered by the truth of the situation the elve could not hold his composure. Limping from the alter he pushed his way through the trees, trying to stand and run. His atrophied legs gave way and he was sent rolling down a hill. His roll stopped at the feet of a King and Prince. They were in the middle of a lord hunt, when their attention shifted to the dark looking being. The King ran to the elve with his sword drawn for blood. Remembering his encounter with the Pirate in the pub his atrophy was lifted, and his innate nimbleness replaced. The King missed his mighty blow, and then turned to question the man. It seemed to him that they were seeing only his distant cousin standing before them. Furious with rage the elve avoided being hit while slandering the Kings ignorance. He then managed to slip out of sight and vanish into the water. Its touch to the skin forced him to pass out, and he lay face down drifting towards the mouth of the stream. A beautiful woman was seen pulling him from the river. He awoke staring into her eyes entranced by her deep gaze. She too looked deeply into his soul, showing signs of empathy. She spent the next few weeks nursing him back to health, teaching him of the kingdoms, and explaining the current political standings according to the new rule. In the corner of her house he found a small book titled the Pact of the InnerWood. This was written by his cousin of old. Shocked that he had not been told about this book, he left her house angry. After he had read its contents, it was clear to him what had happened, and what was to be done. Feeling guilty about having feelings for his dead cousins love, he ran franticly away. He ran for days, trying to escape his thoughts. The confused elve lay once again on the shores, allowing the tide to cleanse his body. His face shadowed by the presence of the maiden who had rescued him from the river, he rose. The maiden confessed to him that she had grown quite fond of him in his absence, but was unable to get close because of an outside factor. It was not known to him that the essence of Bile was so strong. It had caused the elve to go mad with mental sickness. She recommended that he change gods and return to her when he was sane. |
Issues:
1) For the umpteenth time, in Graal and in most fantasy settings, the singular is ELF. Not Elve. Just as Humans are not Humes, except in a very stupid place. 2) Wow. Thank you for this self-indulgant crap. Your cousin is SURELY the Messiah from the way you phrased it. In truth, everyone would be SLANDERING him, not worshipping him as a martyr. 3) Nice way to incorperate virtually being CHOSEN by a god. I'm sure that dosen't qualify as power-rping. 4) This should be in the main kingdom forum. It is not a Forest Issue. And what is this Chapter Four OF? In conclusion, please relegate your self-serving egomaniacal stories to the main kingdoms forum. The Forest in no way wishes to be associated with you. Ever. If you insist on murdering Graal's setting, please do so in a place where it would not confuse people as to wether or not it was sanctioned by our Kingdom. |
Ive been waiting to set you straight.

The Elves (always pluralized as such, never "Elfs") are one of the races that appear in the work of J. R. R. Tolkien. Their complex history is described in full only in The Silmarillion, and it is mentioned tangentially in The Lord of the Rings. Elves were the first inhabitants of Middle-earth who were able to speak. They are sometimes called the Firstborn or the Elder Kindred (as opposed to Men, the Second Ones). The Elves named themselves Quendi ("the Speakers"), in honor of the fact that, when they were created, they were the only living things able to speak. (This name is no accident — Tolkien was a linguist.) Oromë was the first who called them the Eldar ("Star People") because they were born under the stars, but the name is generally considered to exclude the Avari. Elves are described as the fairest and wisest of all creatures in Middle-earth, lovers of art (particularly songs, which they sing in beautiful voices). Many Elves are also stronger than Men and have far sharper senses. The Ñoldorin Elves in particular possess skills and knowledge which to Men appear to be "magic." Their memories and dreams are as vivid as real life. Their most notable feature is that they are immortal and do not age and catch disease. However, they can be slain. If this happens their spirits go to the Halls of Mandos in Valinor. After a certain period of time (probably insipred by the Catholic doctrine of Purgatory), they are re-embodied, and stay in Valinor forevermore. An exception to this was Glorfindel. Tolkien's Elves were a representation of what human beings might have become, had they not committed the original sin. They were mostly morally just, as no Elves willingly joined Morgoth or Sauron, the Enemies, although they could be deceived. But exceptions exist like that of Maeglin, who betrayed Gondolin to save his life and for the love of Idril, his cousin. Further, the invulnerability to diseases were granted to them and that they could recover from wounds which would normally kill a mortal Man. However this also made the Elves less flexible in terms of adjusting to an otherwise fallen, ever-changing world. It should be noted that Tolkien's Elves differ greatly from elves of older folklore, as well as most modern fantasy elves. His Elves were very much human, if Unfallen. (A reference to the Fall of Man.) Aside from being equal or greater in stature to Men, the now clichéd special affinity with forests and bows is largely an accident, resulting from the fact that the most prominent Elven character in The Lord of the Rings, Legolas, is a Wood-elven archer. The trip to Lórien furthers the perception that most Elves live in trees and carry bows, while we learn from Tolkien's other writings that his Elves were just as likely to live in caves (Nargothrond) or mountain fortresses (Gondolin), and the Ñoldor are more often known for their mighty swords. In addition, there are no explicit references to "pointy ears" 2) You are a discrace. The Elves (always pluralized as such, never "Elfs") 3) Elf.... go hang with santa. |

2) Nice one, I'm the disgrace. Great way to shift blame with NO REAL force behind your push. |
This wouldn't have anything to do with Lasaria almost letting you in Forest then realizing who you were and not letting you in?
You make some silly RP story of how you're chosen by a god, yada yada, then denied because she wants you to change gods then come back when you're sane. True story:Lasaria almost let him in Forest, but finally looked at his account and said oops, hell no. |
Lasaria...... wrong.
I refer to another, one to which there will be an event held today.
As far as elves, drow, humans, japanese, and pirates. They dont come from now where. Some one starts their stories somewhere.. I am only telling you where the roots of your RP come from. I have moved back to forest, and regardless if Lasaria lets me... put the tag on..... I will be residing, RPing, and posting in forest. Thanks |

Hell, how can you reside in Forest if nobody will accept a house flag for you? I sure as hell am not. We don't want you here, go away. |
Quote:
Etien, thank you, I don't know what Forest, and Graal, would do without your guidance, oh Messiah: Guide us for we are lost, fill us for we are empty, and leave for you are unwanted, uneeded, and unversed in how things work in OUR setting. |
Wrong again.

2) I have houses on forest. 3) Im here... |

As for your houses, excuse me while I go block them off. We don't want you here, we can kick you off the island, and I'm doing that now. |

But since you're just the wonderful lore master that you tell us you are. Do remind me on human life in Graal. Before the kingdom, before everything. Tell me about the Graalians in the ancient times. You know something? You -cant-... why? Because you dont know. The originial developers already established the timeline for you. Before the Ancient years of Graalians, there was a technologically advanced civilization called the Zalatics in space and whatnot. They crashed on the Graal surface and human evolution took place once more. All of the high technology and such was lost. Zormites and Elfs were native to the soils. Zormites were tribal units which moved from island to island hunting food and gathering fruits and whatnot. Until Saint Zoron made the Zormite Palace under the waters. Elfs were spawned from the life tree, which has since died. Quote:

I am pleased to announce that if Etien, or any who share even a drop of his blood, set foot (in character) on Forest Isle, the force of the Hyralts would viciously begin to expel them; first with unberable nausea, then with gangreen, then with plagues more unspeakable still

Zurkiba
What does Zormite have to do with this... ZORMITE is gone.
WAKE UP. |
Quote:
So I'll just use your number system which seems to have appeared frequently in your own posts. 1) There are still Zormites. They're on the Old Land (aka Graal2001 aka Graal Bomy Moon). If you read Brad's post, you will read that they are on their way to retake their colony. Thusly, you need to WAKE UP 2) The story of the Zormites was told to you so that you wouldn't go around and make the history up for them. Seeing how you like to do that. |
Zurk Zurk

2) That was POWERGAMING.. not even in the correct forum folder. If you read Kef's newest addition to his kingdom, you would see that there remains no documentation of the Zormite, or their followers. 3) You want to post in Forest... post a relavent topic. |

Brad... take back Bel'la change to ZE???? Then im gonna take Forest and change it to DF. |

2) It's not POWERGAMING... it's ROLEPLAYING. It's how things WORK OUT. The Zormite Empire is the largest empire to date and it's moving on the Bell uh Orcas. Not to mention, your little drow invasion of the Zormites would not have effected the Zormite Empire which is stationed to the north. If you dont like it, then you go and talk to the managers of the server whom we have already gotten permission from. The world's against you now and there is nothing you can do to stop it. Also, I dont need you talking about powergaming, because it's just damn funny how a small band of Drows overwhelm an entire nation and apparently, from your recent post, taken out the entire Zormite Empire also. 3) I can do whatever I want to on -my- forum. Forest was the creation of myself and Brad. Not to mention my post is relevent to the current discussion. Quote:

VOIDVOIDVOID! You say that the return of the Empire is powergaming, and yet a small force of drow took over an entire NATION in the span of two days or so? |

Thanks, you allowed for my daily John Wayne quote. And as to your RPing, In a RP sense you're banned from Forest, yet you RP on Forest. Technically, your RP doesn't exist, or shouldn't exist. |
This doesn't belong in forest. Go away.

Graal Kingdoms was created as an extension of Graal Bomy Moon. Populations from the old world miggrated to the Graal Kingdoms islands. That is the foundation of this server, dolt. http://www.graalonline.com/about/kingdoms.php And wtf, why do you copy-paste information about Drows and Elves from other universes, completely unrelated in history and practice! Nobody cares what Tolkien thought or said here, nor do we care about the wonderful world of LOTR. They had their own stories to tell, and as great and interesting as they were, UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE OUR OWN TO PLAY OUT *TEAR*. :frown: SRY ETIEN. *slaps you on the wrist* Its ok now, just as long as you quit insisting your RP crap overrides Graal's well established history. |
Hail Zen, who said it more eloquently than I could have.
Oh, but I would just like to further stress the double standard here: LOTR is relevant even though it's from Tolkein's series, and yet things directly related from Graal's canon are not? Great logic there, Etien |
etien in the graal forum awards I think you'll win biggest ****ing idiot this year
|
Graal's Elves != Tolkien's Elves != DnD's Elves != Lufia's Elves != Dragon Quest's Elves != Warcraft's Elves != Magic:The Gathering's Elves != Santa's Elves, etc.
And even so, the singular of Elves is Elf. Even if you're basing this off of Tolkien, this is true, because he definitely called Legolas an ELF, not an Elve. Also, keep in mind that integral into a massive Roleplaying setting like this, is the community. The story of the land is moved forward by the efforts of all, not just one. Therefore, if the community doesn't agree with your actions, they CAN do what they'd like to stop you. You portraying yourself as some sort of martyr is only false information. |
Yea...

I'd like to think that we use Tolkien and other lore as a guideline; something solid to use when Graal's history of it fails.
In this situation, "Debalgio", you fail, not Graal's history. I can't say anything not already said.. in other words **** N00B !! |

Most people rely on Tolkien's language (Grey House Elven) to do most of the IC Elf talk; isn't that a situation where Graal is not defined enough and we use outside sources as guidelines?

Debaglio, how old are you? You sound like me when I was 10.

Yea, thats acceptable (until somebody with some sort of RP authority decides to define a specific graalian elven language for in-game use).
We arent using that source to shape how we RP though, or what we RP, its just a language that can be used until Graal decides to fill that aspect in. If ever (its not really that important IMO). |
