What do you look for in a playerworld?

Well, this should help people when wanting ideas to create a server ^^

What do you look for when playing a new playerworld?

GoZelda 06-14-2005 07:57 PM

Originality, it should be directly playable, gameplay, balance, it should be clear what to do and where to go. Nice graphics and some new scripts.

Crono 06-14-2005 08:57 PM

I could care less about originality, gameplay is important, replay is important, community is important, levels/scripts/gfx are important.

Amagius 06-14-2005 09:15 PM

Why do I play? Fun.

Graphics, scripts, and levels are less important as long as you can create a playworld that is fun, involves little to no tedium, and I can enjoy the moment I get into it.

Okilian 06-14-2005 09:42 PM

I look for playability. Levels need to not suck. I'm not expecting superb super levels..but really bad is a turn off. A new tile-set, etc I'm not too important on. I mean, if it works for the server, sure, but if not..no worry. FUN is probably the most important thing. Give me something to do that takes up some time.

Zurkiba 06-15-2005 02:24 AM

I look and play on servers that give me RCs on request.

haro41 06-15-2005 05:28 AM

a good intro. a tutorial. a sense of direction from the start. i dont want the first thing i do is pm a FAQ.

Matt 06-15-2005 01:28 PM

Nice levels, Events and other things so that the player can have fun and always have something to do.

Don't we all ;)

I look for many things, good levels, interesting graphics, some new exciting NPCs, and some point to playing the server. I find graal to be a lot more then just pking and sparring, if a server can't provide something that intrests me beyond just those two factors, I won't play it. They need events, and maybe some weekly tournements for some sort of prize or glory, that would get the server on a few times a night to compete. So basically, I look for Fun, if a server has nothing to do, I won't play it.

Skyerus 06-15-2005 03:23 PM

I mainly look for gameplay and community, but cool levels and graphics are nice.

Malinko 06-15-2005 06:49 PM

Classic Playerworld.

I was wondering why it was like that as well...

Curt1zzle 06-16-2005 05:28 AM

What I look for and what everyone looks for, whether they realize it or not, is player control. As in...the power to develope the game you're playing. That's why we all stick around Graal, obviously not for the mind blowing graphics.

We play Graal because we have the power to change it and form it to our own personal tastes, and that's what a player wants in a playerworld - the opportunity for power and ability to mold it. That's why Era was so popular, the ability to own items, businesses, weapons, and the politics that goes along with it.

Hiro 06-16-2005 05:39 AM

I look for "Old Style Graal"

That is true... If you didn't have that ability, graal would getting boring within a week for each player.

What I have to look for in EVERY playerworld, new or old, is how the hell do we change out outfit colors... Dang, they change from every server! >.> You should create a universal outfit changer so we don't all have to search every single time!

refinoheat2 06-16-2005 04:35 PM

Although I don't think that is a huge factor, it would be more helpful, I always forget...

Anyhow -- I was just saying this in a way to be idiotic: I know that Andrew wasn't orienting the question for this, but it would be expected. Personally, I perfer set<part> <color>

TedHead2k 07-04-2005 03:36 AM

I want some quests. I know it's called Graal ONLINE, but man, am I sick of doing nothing on servers. I rarely play Graal because I want more game and less community. I'm sick of totally random locations doing totally random things to get a heart. It's just silly. For the next heart container, I have to go to some random person in some random town's house and race through a garden, or answer some riddles, or kill some baddies! I think Graal really needs some more innovation on their quests. An actual storyline, an actual lengthy dungeon maybe, a good boss instead of the normal finish all the baddies or kill a 20 heart NPC crap.

And if not quests, there has to be more to do than just talking to complete strangers and PKing. The events team is an awesome concept, but it's pretty restricting when you have to be playing when someone on the team is playing, and if they feel like hosting an event. Just automate it... just give me something to do... pleeease... :P

Nice tileset/gfx, nice levels and guns(Or some sort of other projectile-shooting object that shoots at default(0) speed).
