RC Recycle Bin
It would be nice if there was a deleted/ folder on RC where files would go in case you accidently deleted something obviously.
|
I like that idea, that way you can restore something easily without waiting for someone who has it backed up.
Far too many times i've come across newer RC users that deleted things by accident, heck, I've done it a few times myself, this would come in handy. |

Yeah that helps in the occaision that someone deletes the files and then clears the Recycle bin. Basically they just look at the log to see who got the files there, then deal with them, and restore the files.
I really like the idea xD |
Who would have access to this?

It is a good idea. However, preventing the files from being downloadable until restored would also be good and prevent the stealing of content. |

It's not a vitally important thing that would need action straight away from a staff to empty to recycle bin, so it could wait. |
Hm, I don't like this that much, I think it could be given to whoever the manager feels deserves it. I know I can't be on that much for other things I do, and my manager is on at different times than others because he lives in an odd timezone.

You might not want everyone to have access to a Recycle Bin. I wouldn't want some other person taking stuff out that I deleted for a reason, Even though by my position I could delete from Recycle Bin. |

I just believe:
No one should be able to delete the recycling bin, but it gets deleted automatically after a week. Rights should be distributed to whomever the manager deems appropiate (read rights, and copy rights?) |
That does raise another point as well, what if the Managers only have access to the folders, and they're the ones that go corrupt and delete things before quitting. Then no one could restore it unless they had a backup
|
They quit.. Owner comes on, and well, they have Manager rights (RC 4), and by cause, they can use the recycling bin to back up... But this would still be a problem if there wasn't any recycling bin.

Then he is spoiling his own server?

For Ex: Stefan really had no right to take Zone. That's why I think he rescripted everything lol. |
I like the whole Idea. I think that it would be something that everyone would use and enjoy.

I had this idea because I don't want accidental deletions. |

I had to read down this far to find my idea mentioned :p I think it would be best for level4's to have read/copy (same thing) access to the recycle bin folder, and nobody to have delete rights. Just have files that have been in it for a week or more deleted from the server. However, the problem that poses is if somebody created tons of files to overload the server, they couldn't be fully deleted for a week without stefan intervention or something like that. Maybe globals would have rw to recycle bin for those cases? Seeing as how in those situations we're already involved. |
That'd be a good idea, incase.. Oh, let's say your HEADS FOLDER gets deleted.

Yeah but what about Acting Managers. Many times Managers that werent the originals have gone corrupt and deleted a bunch of things, at that point it isn't their server to take to the dead without permission of the buyer. Theres a whole load of circumstances, o_o; |
I know I'm about a week and ½ late but, That's one of the best idea's i've heard posted on these forums, a Recycle/Trash bin for deleted files on RC.
|
Or you can be extra careful not to delete files o_o?
