Wallpapers!

It would be cool if like, in the user CP you can set a wallpaper, a backround to your posts. Like my sig is ghost busters, i could have like a backround that says ghost busters! to my posts! Like when you post instead of the boring white backround you have a wallpaper. And you could change the color of your text so people could read what you post incase the text and wallpaper blend in. I think that would be pretty cool.

Uhm.. you're talking about on these vBulletin forums?

I've never seen this done, and I doubt it's possible. It would take alot of disk space and bandwidth to store all the member's custom backgrounds.

The only thing you can customize in your posts are your actual message, and in some other forums, such as phpBB you can set your backround color. I'm sure vBulletin does'nt have an accessible option for that.

It would be overly annoying attempting to read peoples text while it was on some sort of obscure background.

I already have signatures disabled because of my Pocket PC's load time for these forums. We do not need more 'enhancements'.

You and your "Pocket PC". Pff.

It's not a good idea... You just know some n00b (i.e. me) is going to set a background of just the colour lime, then use light blue over it.

Although, im sure they can copy this current vBulletin skin file and edit it, so the users who would like the colored back round can choose that skin in their 'User CP'. I'm not completely sure if that could work though.

I'm sure you could easily find a mod/hack with which you change the coding slightly, I'm sure you could get colored backrounds.

Do you know what you're talking about? Storing a single hex in a SQL injection is hardly laggy. If it's an image, you can make it so they have to host it themselves.

Curt1zzle 05-02-2005 10:17 PM

It is possible...

On the Sony Online Entertainment EverQuest Game Master Forums (wow, thats a hell of a long name...) theres a few people who do that. I'll look at the source and skip to their post and see what they entered.

In terms of HTML, it's not so difficult.

But desirable? Hell no.
