100KBs rule

I think we need to 100KBs rule changed to 300KBs. I think most people can handle 300KB size images in peoples signatures by now. If if you can't, right-click and hit, "block image" so you won't see it.

So, can we raise the rule from 100KBs to 300KBs? ^^

Akoalin 03-08-2005 03:08 AM

No sig should be 300kbs. If it is, you seriously need to compress it to a smaller format (anything but JPEG and 24 bit bmp).

Dach 03-08-2005 04:45 AM

No.

Do you need an animated signature that is over 100kb in size?

Spark910 03-08-2005 12:28 PM

Considering the default posts per page, and if you increased the signtuare size limit, then you will end up with pages that would take 3-5minutes to load on dial-up!

Zero Hour 03-08-2005 05:31 PM

Yea, and hands down, that dancing girl was annoying. That stupid had of hers... ¬_¬

No way, she owns.

And I know people on dial-up who said that my size signature didn't cause them any problems - and if there was any problem, it was only seconds off. So unless your computer is like, a celeron 1MB hard-drive, no mouse laptop, maybe you'll lag.

There is no reason for it to be raised.

What is wrong with you?
Do you think people are terrible because they cant afford an awesome computers, with awesome video cards, and awesome graphics cards, with awesome connections?
I hardly think it will kill you to keep your sig at or under 100kb

When I'm foruming on my Pocket PC, I often have to disable images completely to get any page to load in a timely fashion because people's signatures.
It has a fairly good wireless connection, but it is only 400MHz in power.
For those without the power or connection to spare, images are in general a pain, nevermind ones that require more time to download. Keep the rule at 100kb/s max.
As for the probable comments about using a Pocket PC, please be aware that I do not care.

Kaimetsu 03-08-2005 07:43 PM

And the maximum height should be reduced, too.

Zero Hour 03-08-2005 07:59 PM

What are the current extremities for signatures?

Users are not permitted to set signatures or avatars that mimic those of another member, without his/her explicit permission. The moderators reserve the right to arbitrate on whether or not a signature violates this rule.

You are permitted to include a section in your signature that links directly to the rating system of the board. However, there are two conditions: Firstly, the full range of values must be presented as options. Secondly, they must all be clearly labeled, informing other users of their purpose.

I believe this is what you asked for.

Hiro 03-08-2005 09:09 PM

Yup, there I go again.

Woah sorry. I thought you were Hiro responding to the post given to him. Heh, luvs u <3

Hiro 03-09-2005 12:43 AM

Yeah..

Hence why 3kb would be great-o.

Maybe if I cleared out my entire sig and only put in my dancing girl, no one would care. Either that, or it's just a personal thing.

I believe your sig was between 300 and 400kb, just for the dancing person

<Edit> correction, it was over 200kb <Edit>

Hiro 03-10-2005 12:53 AM

Her hat wasn't stupid. :frown:

Zero Hour 03-10-2005 02:43 AM

Well, her dancing around with... a single pant leg for what one may call "a skirt" was stupid. But I still insist; her hat is stupid.
