Removing folders from RC

It would be nice if there were an option to remove unused folders within RC FTP.
All we can do now is remove the files from the folders, but the folder remains there. I know that you can make it so they dont show, but I have mine set to show all folders, and it will be a pain to put each specific folder in the rights so that I can weed out the ones not being used.
It seems like each manager put new folders up, and there are alot of duplicates, and it is very messy and disorganized.

I was going to make this thread later... >_<

A delete button would help on the folder configuration...

Make it more organized...

Spark910 02-28-2005 06:57 PM

As long as it could be done with a new right, like

rwd levels

read,write,delete

Because a specific right check box would mean someone could just remove all folders.

Or maybe make it so that the folders can only be deleted if empty..?

That's a great idea, and I also agree that it should be a right or something, not on the menu when you right click

It would be nice if Graal FTP was more like a web FTP.

oinknessx 03-01-2005 03:30 AM

It would be great if rc ftp was more like windows explorer, with the folders shown and all... And the browser on the left side... and you could create or delete or view folder properties inside the window..

zell12 03-01-2005 04:33 AM

Only managers should be allowed to delete folders me thinks. Causes trouble when you got a few people who do this. ;P

If you ever used a file manager on a webpage control panel it should be more like that. :o

Not really a big deal I guess, as long as noone could delete the folders unless they are empty

The simple requirements 'the staff member has write rights to the folder' and 'the folder is empty' are not sufficient?

Do you often give your staff members access to empty folders that you do not want them to delete?

It's not what she does, it is what the other kids as managers of their own servers will do that makes me worried.

I agree! I am now worried about allowing people to delete empty folders, too.

Why do you have to be so biligerant, and sarcastic all the time? :\
I realize I am talking about something so insignificant as deleting empty folders...at this point, I really could care less if it is simply a right click option, I just want to be able to clean up the mess in my ftp. You have a point, it's just that you dont have to be a jerk about it................

Exactly....even though it is just those little insignificant, empty folders

Maybe I will get lucky, and Stefan will see this and do something about it

How am I being belligerent (I am assuming this is the word you intended) here? Also, what is wrong with sarcasm?

Hey, I have a couple folders I would like to be able to delete, too. I am just as interested in a way to delete them.

You proposed that one of two things should take place as though they were mutually exclusive:
1) A right-click option to delete folders
2) A right to be able to delete folders (perhaps limited to just the managers)

I asked a simple question of you to hint that your reasoning was indeed flawed and to note that those two options are not actually mutually exclusive.

Pray tell, which part of the imagined belligerence makes me a jerk? I am going to hope (for your sake, lest you grow more hypocritical) that the sarcasm is not a factor in this conclusion you have reached.

What is the problem? What will these 'kid managers of other servers' do regarding a right-click option to delete folders that has you two so atither? The only thing mentioned thus far is allowing other folks to delete empty folders. Will this be the pandemic problem you have implied? Would this be a problem at all?

Also: do I get to file a complaint for these personal attacks?

No surprise you suck at managing a server.

I believe it was already established that it should only be allowed to delete folders that were empty...

Lance, I dont wish to continue this....there is really no reason for it to be an only Manager option if it were limited to only deleting empty folders, if that cannot be done, then obviously it should only be a right given to Managers so that a folders and its contents cannot be deleted by everyone...
