Stupid Intel Graphics x_x

So, I have this IBM PC I got for free some time ago. It's not *bad*, but it's not *good* either. Well, it has Old Intel i810 Graphics on it, and grall just sucks on it. I mean, a small 200x200 window will lag like you would not believe.

Anyway, I had an old left over ATI Rage II AGP card, slapped that in here, and now I can play it justl iek I can on my 9100 pro.

Lance 02-19-2005 09:22 PM

Congratulations?

Gambet 02-19-2005 10:20 PM

Shouldnt this thread have been made at NGRT?

Anyways, glad you can now play without much lag.

No, because he's talking about playing Graal. Hence it is Graal related.

Lance 02-20-2005 01:29 AM

I have an idea. :)
Hellos and Goodbyes forum!

Uh, why did you put this thread in the hello/goodbye forum?

Probably because in a way, this guy is saying hello to Graal.. Again.

Perhaps you should, you know, read the first post and tell me if it should really be in the main forum. This subcategory fits it fairly well. :)

He is talking about changing the graphic card in his PC, making it run better with Graal, there was nothing wrong with where it was.
He isn't saying hello or goodbye to Graal, if anything, it would have worked better in the NGR, but since he mentioned Graal in his post, it was left in the main forum....

On topic...I didn't know that a graphic card would make that much of a difference as far as speed, learn something every day :)

Nappa 02-20-2005 07:54 PM

He si saying he is returning to playing graal. How is that NOT a hello ?

leemanrulz 02-20-2005 08:19 PM

I am NOT saying I'm returning to Graal, I've been back for some time now.

Yes, I read your post several times, and still cannot see where that was said, or even implied, thanks for clearing that up...

That being said, it is obvious that it doesn't belong in the hello/goodbye section, and since the original post speaks of Graal in it, it will remain in the graal main forum.....carry on with the original topic now :)

Ugh. Here:
  • You made a post that didn't have a clear point. You changed a graphics card. You can now play Graal on it. Congratulations?
  • The Graal Main Forum was certainly not the proper home for this thread. Just because a post 'mentions Graal', that does not mean it belongs in the Graal Main Forum. This is a thread about a computer and its new graphics card, not about Graal.
  • A judgment call was made. Since Kamuii already ruled out NGRT (the forum this thread probably should have been moved to, see last bullet), the only other possible destination forum was Hellos and Goodbyes. For one, you seem to be a fairly new user. For two, you seem to be returning to Graal on a new computer. There is mention of another graphics card, but no qualifier. The questions one might ask oneself when reading that post, "Does he still have that graphics card? Does the other computer work? Then, is he saying 'Hello' to Graal or the forums now that he has Graal working on that new computer?"

You all could argue with a brick wall - I love it. ;)

There is a difference between arguing and discussing, we were discussing...

No difference between you and a brick wall though, right?

Discussing an arguement...

It seems that everyone confuses discussions with arguments, and thats how problems start. People need to learn the difference between an argument and a discussion.

Anyways....this has somehow turned to a "Where in the forums does this thread belong!" type thing.

Deek2 02-20-2005 11:34 PM

Wtf, arguments and discussing are both related.

maximus_asinus 02-20-2005 11:40 PM

An arguement is an escalation of a heated discussion, so no they aren't the same.

Yes, related, but not the same. This, in fact is an argument, not a discussion as Moonie said.

Argument:

A discussion in which disagreement is expressed; a debate.

Discussion:

Consideration of a subject by a group; an earnest conversation.

Since not everyone agrees on the same thing (in this case, where this thread belongs), I guess, theoretically, it is infact an argument.

What do you mean by "heated"?

Please do not confuse the connotation of a word with its definition.

syltburk 02-21-2005 04:55 PM

I think that if Lance wouldn't be a moderator Moonie would have closed it.

Dach 02-21-2005 08:07 PM

Who cares?
@ everyone

Stev579 02-22-2005 06:22 PM

It sounds like you people have far too much free time on your hands.

Admins 02-22-2005 07:44 PM

I don't know why people even care to discuss such things, if you want to say something to the original poster then do. If you think it would fit better in another forum, then wait till someone moves it or tell an admin to do it. Sometimes it looks like you are all waiting for new posters so that you have something to fight for, instead of discussing actual problems. After some time no one will post something interesting anymore because you need to fear to get such stupid non-topic answers.
Graal should work in i810, but you need to find the good drivers, which is not always easy.
