Winner Melody

I will add something soon that is displaying your total kills and the kills for your current weapon when you kill someone. But I thought that it could also be interesting to play a special "winner melody" - a special melody which you can configure for your character, a little bit like in some comics/films when you hear a special melody when the main character is starting to fly or using his whip.
There would be two ways to do it:

1. You can upload a wav or give it to a staff who can upload it. We could make quite interesting sounds, problem might be copyright and it would be quite a lot of administration to upload and verify them.
2. You can make your own melody with 10-15 tones and a few instruments using a simple online melody editor (think of flute, warhorn, drums etc. from Graal Kingdoms or Graal2001)

Tell me what you think about it!

Indiana Jones Music~

Anyone ?

maximus_asinus 02-16-2005 07:43 PM

The winner melody kind of reminds me of Final Fantasy, when you win a battle the music plays and they all go into a special stance.

Yes some other games have similar thing, but we could make it so that each player has its own unique melody (if the Zone players are interested in it) :)

Wouldn't that be an incredible burden on the server with all those files? Unless you are just going to host them on a site and have them played that way.

Well thats why I had the idea of a melody editor which would store the instruments and tones in a short string (since 10-15 tones should be enough).

oinknessx 02-16-2005 09:56 PM

I think it's a great idea, Mr. Stefanbomb! But since the zone musics is techno-ish stuff, perhaps you should make the tune be a "square wave"? Or some other synthy instrument. :) It would fit in better, and also the zone musics should fade out while the victory notes are playing!

Kaimetsu 02-17-2005 12:04 AM

It does sound pretty interesting. Would it play on everybody's computer or just yours? If the former, it probably shouldn't happen every time you kill somebody.

pacMASTA 02-17-2005 12:10 AM

I am id like to make my own theme song XD

If it was for every kill then my song would be a high pitched noise that would last as long as the alotted time.

I think it should play so many notes for how many kills like
20 Notes Tota
1 - Kill = A "Tango Down" or "Enemy Down" soundl
5 - Kills in a = 5 Notes
10 - Kills in a Row = 10 Notes
15 - Kills in a Row = 15 Notes
20- Kills in a row

Admins 02-17-2005 05:52 AM

I thought of a sound played each time you kill someone, but if we only use a few premade wavs instead of individual melodies then it should probably not play each time. I still need opinions about the question if we should use a melody editor or make a set of nice wavs

Kaimetsu 02-17-2005 06:02 AM

Melody editor sounds good. People will make some ugly tunes, but I guess that will just be incentive to kill them more often.

oinknessx 02-17-2005 06:06 AM

Wait, I've got the best idea. Seriously..

Make team-chat wavs of like stuff you would say with your team. Fall back, Go go go, Help, Enemy sighted, etc... Players could play them by clicking their icon on a small GUI thing. And if the player chose to hit it for killing someone (enemy down) then the player would click on that. There could be an 8 second delay on sound clickings or something so people don't spam the sounds. :frown:

Keyboard shortcuts would be better may be ? We could make some wavs like "Help at Base 1", "Help at Base 2", "Follow me"

Crono 02-17-2005 04:08 PM

Winning/losing melodies sound good to me. :D

maximus_asinus 02-17-2005 04:35 PM

I like the player speach addition that was meantioned.
Enemy Spotted. Get in position and wait for my signal. GO! GO! GO!

Now we only need to decide about who is recording those wavs :)

maximus_asinus 02-17-2005 08:22 PM

if it is going to be an actual voice then maybe get a voice simulation utility and record from that.

oinknessx 02-17-2005 08:36 PM

What you do is you record your own voice and put some static in it, and also the "psht" noise when you hit the radio button to activate it.. So it would be like "click - follow me - psht"

I don't know who can record it, I don't have a microphone.. :frown:

pacMASTA 02-19-2005 07:16 PM

Maybe use a idea form Battle Field 1942
well this is how it is kind of like on BF1942...
F1 - Battle Commands
F1 - ATTACK
F2 - FOLLOW ME
F3 - Reinforcments

F2 - Requests
F1 - I need a medic
F2 - I need Artliary

..... So basicly theirs Command Tabs and Sub Command Tabs this would make it good so you can have 144 Commands threw the F1 - F12 :)

Admins 02-20-2005 07:16 AM

Anyone who want to make those sounds ("Follow me", "Go Go Go" etc.) ?

Gambet 02-20-2005 07:18 AM

I suggest you use:

Cool Edit Pro

or you could do it yourself and use sound recorder, which comes with most computers.

Up to you, I guess?

Fogles 02-20-2005 07:19 AM

Use CounterStrikers Sounds...XD..

i can also talk to Rage on UN..to do it...i'm sure he will be happy to.

Which is why I suggested Cool Edit Pro, which allows you to add several effects to your voice, and you can even do the radio on/radio off type effect also. I use to have it, but I deleted it because I didnt have much use of it anymore, but you can easily download it.

pacMASTA 02-20-2005 07:26 AM

Lol i could picture all CS sounds on Zone rofl...SWEEP FLEET wins! ... Counter Teroists Win .. Pac:What the hell...?

Akoalin 02-20-2005 09:47 PM

Try this...
http://www.research.att.com/projects/tts/demo.html
Then modify the voice so we're not entirely copying it ;)

falco10291029 02-20-2005 09:54 PM

I think either should be available, either you can uploadf your own but have to wait for it to be verified or you can make a short one using an editor online. Also I think it should only play when you make a kill using your favorite prechosen weapon a certain amount of times, maybe at 5,10,25,50,ect.
