screenheight and screenwidth changable?

just wondering if you can set them.

falco10291029 02-10-2005 05:01 AM

yes, you resize your screen....

xManiamaNx 02-10-2005 05:01 AM

You can change it by changing the size of your screen. :)

edit: bah beaten :(

Gman4pwnu 02-10-2005 05:28 AM

errr... why take the time to make a thread about it when you could've tested it yourself easier x.x It's just like players[0].id: a read-only var

I remember when someone added that to a server jail level, but it was moving the mouse around to random cords

Cannot be changed by script

Well, because to ensure that the players get the full effect of a games content, it's generally best to enforce a screen resolution/size or at least be able to detect it, I know alot of people who play in windows that aren't even 400x200, while I play at 1024x768 on my second monitor, so it's kinda dumb if you design content that should be able to be seen from a distance and the people in 400x200 or smaller windows won't see it and your time just got wasted.

Gambet 02-20-2005 11:43 PM

Adjusting the screen height/width via a script would be very useful actually. A main reason, is what Aethorpe stated.

ApothiX 02-21-2005 01:30 AM

Or you could just inform them that they need to change their resolution, or in a worst-case-scenario, prevent them from playing on the server if they don't change the resolution.

Screen resolution doesn't apply to graal nearly as much as other games, a small minority of graal plays fullscreen, and an even smaller minority would actually heed useful information posted by server staff. Myself and undoubtly so many others are guilty of logging onto a server for the first time and ignoring the automatic MOTD sent by the NPC server, and avoiding the "info houses" that some servers employ.

Gambet 02-21-2005 01:53 AM

I always play full screen, because its easier for me. I find it easier to play full screen. Well, I play partially full screen. I leave a little piece to the right of the screen where I put the f7 playerlist. That way I can view/answer messages easily/quicker.

That's not true fullscreen. Hit alt+enter, that is fullscreen.
You are just playing in an enlarged windowed mode.

When I am actually playing graal, I play fullscreen, but when I'm scripting something, I play in windowed mode, so I don't have to alt+tab to RC.

Gambet 02-21-2005 05:36 AM

Yes, I know about alt+enter. I know that it wasnt in full screen mode, I just call it full screen when I enlarge my screen myself.

I find that alt-enter for fullscreen causes graal to lock up on me, but I drag my graal screen to the full size of my screen within 1-2 pixels and use F10 to embed it there without borders and just hit F7 when I need to send messages.

According to Stefan, f10 is being removed :P

Thats a very odd shaped screen you have there....

I can get 1280 x 1024 :-( But i only use 1024 x 768

Skyld 02-22-2005 01:51 AM

I am under the same restrictions. The card can go up to 2048xsomething, but the monitor is built with a 1024x768 perfect resolution.

Like Okie said, I'm using a widescreen lcd. I use my laptop all the time since it blows my desktop away and the rest of my family is supposed to use the desktop. -_-

Gman4pwnu 02-22-2005 05:45 PM

i was thinking though maybe a way to choose screen size when you join server, when i was planning the rts project.

Dach 02-22-2005 09:19 PM

It's not hard to create dynamic guis and static guis that fit with most resolutions...

Hell, with the new engine you'd be a nut not to use dynamically sized menus and such.
