Great Work! If i had a MAC i would try it, but then again i dont.

Skyld 02-02-2005 06:11 PM

I can imagine that Curt1zzle (or whatever he's called) will be most impressed.
Its nice to see Graal on more than one platform.

I got 33:9 kills on Zone when playing yesterday, so it should be fast enough for all servers :)
Sometimes I need to go on servers and fix their gfx, especially on Unholy Nation there are many images with bad transparency.

You thought right.

I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl.

I wasn't excepting 3D capabilities...

Although, I'm asuming this doesn't come with the editor or remote control? ^^

Skyld 02-02-2005 10:58 PM

I don't think its comes with the editor, and I suppose you could use the scripted RC on a Gscript2-enabled server.

Edit Only just noticed this :P

Ajira 02-02-2005 11:15 PM

Nice, all that's left is the Windows version.

Curt1zzle 02-02-2005 11:27 PM

"The Application Graal Has Unexpectantly Quit" is the message I get after installing and opening the Graal client.

And the RC won't give me an error or anything, it just opens and closes immedietly. We're 0 for 2 so far...

My system specs are:

Mac OS X Version 10.3.7
1.33 GHz PowerPC G4
512 MB DDR SDRAM

Skyld 02-02-2005 11:39 PM

What is in console.log?

Possibly this? I don't know much about Macs.

Hehe....Don't know what that means, though.

Ajira 02-03-2005 01:17 AM

It means it couldn't find your mouse. Lol.

That's a bit too obvious. Must be a deeper meaning...

Hell, ill try plugging in a mouse instead of using the pad. Maybe that will fix it.

That didn't seem to fix it either , so here's my oficial user library error log report for Graal:

(Attaching file, too many characters to paste)

Macs are always evil like that, get a computer with windows or something heh. There could be a chance it's not your computer but a bug with the mac client.

What an intelligent post.

Must I pick it apart, or can everyone clearly see through it?

On topic please, twit.

Ok, the RC connected and I logged on fine. Small bugs here and there , but it works. Awesome!

Everytime you talk, the text doubles over though hehe.

Yes the GUI toolkit (GTK) is not completely finished, thats why version 0.7, may be I can fix some stuff when I get some time since we also want to use it for some future version of the Graal setup.

Ok Uploaded a new version, v3.151, which also fixes some problems with the files access. Curtizzel please test this and post the console.log if it's still not working.

Nice work! ^^

Curt1zzle 02-03-2005 11:30 PM

Almost, but no cigar. :\

Now, instead of crashing, it did what the RC used to do before you gave me that other thing to install. It opens and closes really fast, with no error or anything.

I don't think the log is updating correctly, but here it is anyways:

Um that can't be the new console.log, try to delete and start again ?

The new installation didn't come with console.log..... :\

I believe that is made once the client crashes? Which means...when it opens and closes real fast, it's not qualifying as a crash....

You have installed it with the normal setup? You can also try to copy the setup.data/release folder manually to your hard drive and start Graal then ?

Tried both ways 3 times, none of them works. It won't create the console.log file anymore - it just opens and closes very quickly. x_x

Edit: Log on debug if you read this, so we can talk about the problems.

Curt, you may think you are superior to the people on these forums. Your posts clearly tell me without a doubt that your trying to be a lot smarter then you really are. If you took the time to notice you would know that I was on topic and was simply saying that you would be better off with a different system. Mac computers lack the compatibility with a lot of games and just cause more trouble then they are worth. Before you start calling people a 'twit' you might want to try and actually listen to their suggestions.

Listen, Mitch, I don't need some child coming into a thread for talking about the release of a Mac Graal client and rambling on about how I shouldn't use Mac.

Your ability to understand the reasoning behind my bash is apparently non-existant.

Apple computers don't lack compadibility, kid, games simply just aren't made for the platform because the ammount of users is fairly low. It wouldn't be a wise financial move for game producers to make them for a Mac platform.

I prefer Microsoft and Windows for my operating system at home on my PC, and OSX on my latops for multimedia, web design, and graphic design.

As far as them being inferior or not able to handle games - They're known for their excellent performance in multimedia and graphics. They're efficient enough for me to run a 1.33ghz processor and have it tower over any other laptop in its pricerange + $500.

Please, leave this thread if you're going to backseat bash my choice of operating system, ok kid?

doomboy00 02-04-2005 10:07 AM

In 3.15 glad to see several things fixed
-Tile errors fixed (tiles no longer block movement)
-Not being able to walk through small gaps fixed
-Buddy list added (Thank you)
But for some reason my options won't save whether this is a bug, or my computer playing up i dont know.
I'm getting the same problem with 3.151 with it not opening (think its due to missing library or something) but 3.15 runs fine, but im not running panther.
The RC also seems to be very slow, but this could be down to not running panther, as panther is more reliable than 10.2. Hope to see how this comes along. for now ill stick with virtual pc because i need to view comments, and access files. But its great for if i just need to go on for an hour or so to help people out.

But thumbs up :) Good job

Yes there seems to be a problem with the startup, will upload a new version in a few minutes. In v3.151 the saving of options is fixed.

Update:
Ok uploaded the new version, at least the console.log should work now, please report whats happening

doomboy00 02-04-2005 05:55 PM

Ok, this one works again. But still the problem of the options not saving.
And what is with the client-rc thing? When im on RC and connect to UN with my client it says a client-RC has connected. But i cant do anything within my client on the rc, so what the point of this?

Thank you

But you can possibly receive RC Chat, but will do a thing to not display that message until someone actually uses a scripted RC

That is quite funny, you actually think I'm a child. First off I don't know what your trying to prove attempting to insult me with bad gramar and words not used in the english language. I'm only trying to help you but your making the situation terribly worse. If that's all you can afford I'm fine with that but I wouldn't in any sense call me a child. If you consider someone with a doctorate and a 3.6 ghz processor a child you have issues. This argument can end now or it can keep going, I stick by what I said and suggest you to get one of the most common systems to avoid dealing with such problems.

Have you ever considered why the users of apple computers are fairly low? I'm not going to answer that question because I believe it is self-explanitory. I wish you the best on the mac version of graal stefan, curt whom ever.

Because of PR, licensing, and business mistakes by Apple in the late 80s and mid 1990s. Not because of any UI problems, lack of developers, or major bugs or glitches.

Curt1zzle 02-05-2005 01:59 AM

Still not working Stefan, sorry!

It gives me that error like it orriginally did once it boots up. Here's the console.log
