Paladin Gaai
 

So, I made this paladin guy, whatcha think? :D

Linear, not bad though.

Too dark to be a paladin if you ask me.

Looks pretty good.

He's very symmetrical, which makes him linear, in my opinion.
He doesn't look anything like a paladin, but that's only because of me.
Also, fix his feet, they're quite bad.

Is it me or did he grow in the left and right directions?

Ok, maybe he isn't a paladin, let's call him a swordsman. :D

Ya, he gained a pixel or two in the hair department. :P

Edit: Noting this, I would like to say that I fixed the taller versions and here is the result. :)

That doesn't look like a Paladin. But it still looks cool. Fix the slope in his nose/face though.

Where is the light source?

I tried to make the lightsource "universal" or "undeterminable". :P

Read the thread. :P We are calling him a "swordsman" now, because apparently everyone else says he is not a paladin, even though the designer says he is. Jeez, why does everyone have to be so negative towards me. x_x

Whoever said a paladin had to be brightly colored anyways? :) A paladin is a virtuous knight, usually linked to some sort of religion, does that mean he has to be brightly colored? :) Maybe this Paladin couldn't afford platemail crafted of silver, so he had to settle for iron and steel, like everyone else.

Paladins were holy knights, no? Supported by the church then. I think the church was raking in enough cash from 'saving' the peasents to get their holy knights atleast white robe/poncho thing, if not shiney armor.

I just figured a warrior of god would be more brilliantly dressed.

I think a warrior of god would be more humble, and feel that how he dresses doesn't matter, as long as he fights for righteousness and good.

Please dont pillow shade sprites if it can be helped.

And the deal about the "swordsman", I was just poking at how flat you made it, it would not fit in a slightly overhead styled game like graal, so that graal body you showed was not a good comparison. The side view idle sprites show the hand which is farther back and is kinda chubby, showing part of the front of its body.

Although, they're right. If the majority of the people don't think your impression of a Paladin goes along with the general idea of a Paladin, best is to have it their way.

Haha, this thread got vanquished by Jordan twice, that's like a new record or something.

*shrug* I don't expect him to be "omg amazing" but if someone makes a suggestion he should take it into consideration, atleast. I don't think people are being negative - if you post something you created you're going to get people who point out flaws, it's expected.

Yes, pointing out flaws is one thing, but trying to label an opinion as incorrect is just silly. ^^ That's the difference between opinions and factual statements. :)

Since none of us here are leading experts in medieval fantasy, none of us can accurate state the dress and demeanor of a Paladin, and given that it's fantasy, no one ever will, because it's all in the eyes of the individual imagination. :) Besides, they keep saying "it's not a paladin" and I had already said to myself "Fine, people don't think it's a paladin, it'll be a swordsman then, surely he is a swordsman at the very least" and then I posted such. :) The intention of the thread was not to debate wether he was a paladin or not, it was to gain insight from others about the graphics. :)

I believe, if you look closely, such debate is barely there. But if you find more than you would like of that subject - ignore it and read all the other comments. That's what I would do.

Heh, so, this swordsman guy came, and he said "OMFG, You're not a paladin, you suck." and he stole his sword, and killed him with it. :O What an arse, eh?

Ok, so now the paladin is dead, and there is only a swordsman now, see?

Do an army of the paladins :O, :D

So then, the churchy healer and paladin type people got very angry and marched out to smite the evil swordsman, and his buddy comes and is like, "Omfg, dude, u are dumb, run away now!"

And it looked something like this. :O

The healer dudes look like chess pieces from the right/left sprites ^^
