More rule clarification

Is it illegal to make threads asking for information on forum rules?

If so, shouldn't it be in here somewhere?
If not, why was my thread closed?

You should of just PMed a moderator.

In which instance?

You should have used the word 'have' in your post, instead of 'of'. Would a moderator be justified in editing your post accordingly? Clearly we need some overlying structure of rules, to restrain both the moderators and the users. If those in power are allowed to alter anything that they feel should be different, everything becomes a matter of personal bias. The only way to eliminate corruption is to codify the moderation process and thus ensure that the administrators act in a consistent and impartial fashion.

If it is illegal for us to discuss the rules then so be it. I can understand why certain... types of moderator would want to silence such talk. However, it should at least be included in the rules so that the users can know when they're asking the wrong kinds of questions.

As much as I agree with you, I still think you should have listened to Spark and just used a PM. The moderators can do whatever they want. I don't agree with that, but . . .

Nappa 01-03-2005 08:49 AM

I already pmed spark yesterday asking why Kai's thread was closed - Still no answer

Yeah, he should just drop whatever he is doing and answer your pm, because you know that your pm is more importiant that the other 100 things he has to do.

Nappa 01-03-2005 08:51 AM

Yes, it is. If I am not allowed to make a thread about it and get an answer quickly, then I should atleast get an answer through pm quickly.

zell12 01-03-2005 08:55 AM

You should get the PM when he has the time to reply to it.

If they weren't afraid of public exposure, they wouldn't be censoring so much of what the users say. Their power may be technically unlimited, but there are boundaries to what they can do behind the community's back. I'm just trying to tighten those boundaries.

I, too, would be interested in the answer to this question. As such, I would tend to think it is more of a public matter than a private (message) one.

Considering the PWA do nothing you make a valid point.

That's true. I doubt when 'the people' request a new law to be approved by the government they do this by one sending a letter.

Graal is not a democracy where the people can just request a law.
The people, despite paying the money that runs this show, do not have any sovereignty on the forums. The absolute regents' representants are the one that make all the important decisions, and if you do not agree with these, you are labelled "offensive", "off-topic" or "anti-graalian", and get thrown into the dungeon.

Hooray for communism!

Deek2 01-03-2005 06:03 PM

As a tangent, what would your response be if this thread were also closed?

Chris 01-03-2005 06:06 PM

He'd probably make another thread.

Darlene159 01-03-2005 07:12 PM

Kaimetsu, dont make another thread regarding this issue...you are not above the rules and beings that Spark closed your last thread regarding the forum rules, you dont get to make another one (as the forum rules do state)
Let us not forget, that sometimes Spark and I have to use our best judgement on the forums, and if you have a problem/question about a rule, then use a forum PM like everyone else.
Reason being: The community cannot help you with the forum rules, as they did not make them. USE A FORUM PM in the future for questions to the mods.
