Rule clarification, please

Off-topic posting: Legal or not? You supermods have never given me a clear answer on the topic.

If it is illegal, I can point you to several hundred offending posts that you never even glanced at.
If it isn't, please stop using it as an excuse to delete posts that you dislike.

Either way, I'd like you to make a definite statement so you can't hide behind ambiguities later. If necessary, you might also want to update the rules thread.

This is a good question.. and with that, I ask why don't you either PM the person whom's post you've deleted with a reason why, or start finding some posts that are relevently off-topic. Either way, people should be told why their posts were removed.

is that a squirrel in your signature, Kaimetsu? or a monkey?

I can't tell

I think it's a monkey, but I always used to think it was a squirrel

by the way, which do you think is superior, squirrels or monkeys? personally I think squirrels are awesome, especially flying squirrels

I do presume it's a monkey, because under his account name says "Scripter Monkey", so I would expect that's him! So adorable... *hugs Kaimetsu*

Yes, please answer kai's question, it might give him another way to rebel against you.

You think a vague, undefined rule system is a good thing? The only people that could benefit from it are corrupt moderators. Do you think the forum users are unreasonable in wanting to know what is and isn't illegal?

Since nobody has answered, I'll take a stab at it.

Maybe if it's off-topic and heading in a direction that will turn the thread into a flaming trashcan, they delete the posts that are creating this situation to prevent that from happening?

Crono 01-02-2005 04:55 PM

I agree with Kai, make a solid rule on this or stop randomly deleting our posts for being off topic.

Hey kai I love the hair btw, and scriptagonist nice sig ;D

Since the Mods do have leeway in how they dispense their judgment on a post or thread a rule is not necessary( In my opinion). Why? Well let’s look at it this way to coin a phrase that the infamous Kai likes to use or did use often at one time "Think before you post". Off topic comments are not necessarily a bad thing unless it tends to derail and start flaming remarks. So maybe before you post ask yourself " Is it necessary? Does it contribute anything worth reading by the community? Is it constructive or is it nothing more than a clever Flaming remark? Just use common sense when you post so more and more rules are not necessary. If you can't use common sense when you post then don't be surprised when they disappear or leads to your banning from these forums because of your conduct. So change the much-used phase to this Think and use common sense before you post

;)

Threads that are off-topic and abusive are commonly deleted.
It isn't often the fact it's off-topic that it's deleted, but the content. And if you still have a problem, tuff. Thread closed, use PMs, doh!
