The 4th Official Graalian Artist's Challenge

Moving right along...

-----------------------------------------

Welcome back! I was irritated with the last contest, but I'm hoping the lack of participation was largely due to the subject. So, this time, we will be doing something a bit easier. As you all know, Christmas is comming up. As you all also know, we (we meaning I) decided not to do a Halloween themed contest last time. So, I thought it'd be interesting to have a subject that was a mixture of the two. lol, yea I rock, I know. So, we are going to make this largely open ended this time. You guys can just have fun with it, and lets see your creative juices flowing! I will make the limitations fairly linient. The subject is open ended, as long as it is appropriate for these forums and clearly has a mixture of Halloween and Christmas themes apparent in the peice. I mean, seriously, whatever. Make a christmas tree with jack-o-lanterns at its feet rather than presents. Make a goblin/gnome making toys for santa. I dont know, I dont care. Think of something and show it off!

Also please note that the maximum pixel dimensions are sort of big, but that doesnt mean you have to make a 350x350 box, it can be smaller if you want.

-----------------------------------------

Guidelines:

Subject: A Halloween/Christmas peice of your choosing.
Dimensions: 350x350 pixels maximum
Color Depth: 24 unique colors maximum
Contest Length: present - December 22nd (12:00pm EST, 9:00pm PST)
Number of Submissions allowed: 2
Transparency: Allowed
Animation: Optional x_x please dont be stupid, tho.

-----------------------------------------

Read over the rules if you have not done so lately.

Official Graalian Artist's Challenge Rules

3. Color depth includes the transparency color of the image.
4. Submissions are not to be accepted after the end date of the challenge unless a justifiable reason is communicated to LordZen before that date.
5. Do not put your signature in the submission.
6. When allowed to submit multiple images, remember that each participant will only be allowed to have one of those advance to the finals.
7. If you post an image in this contest thread, that will be considered a submission. You will be allowed to delete them, however, if you want a newer version to be considered for the contest.
8. No text descriptions in the submissions, about the submissions. Text is only allowed if it is used as a nessisary or justifiable part of the subject.
9. Arguments and discussions regarding this contest are to be done in a seperate "discussion" thread designated for this contest. Simple comments, however, are OK to post in this thread if it regards an image submitted or is a direct question for LordZen.
10. In the case of 2 or more submissions receiving the same number of votes after the voting period has ended. LordZen must cast a 2nd tie-breaking vote.
Good luck and please dont disappoint me a gain.

I have 8 dollars in my paypal right now, so Butz if you want to contact me I will give you 5 bucks for winning the last competition, and I will see about finding 2 more dollars to give the winner of this one. After this event, I WILL create a showcase thread for the winners.

Ok..good luck.

LordZen 12-08-2004 08:14 AM

First One... as usual

It's from a movie. Better then my first submission. I used text because I mean, look at it. Would you have ever guessed Halloween Before Christmas if I didn't tell you what it was?

davidpsy 12-12-2004 06:41 AM

I cant enter, I am a painter as well. Zen, why you you make the rules like, for pixel art there is a 24 color limit, and for painters there is a 5000 color min.

Galdor 12-12-2004 06:52 AM

or no color limit at all =]

Thats what I would like.

Both of you are capable of operating within the limits. You both acheived a good level of skill at simple pixeling before doing the stuff you like to do now, better than most others. This complaining is getting quite tiresome. You both could do fine with the color limit, you just dont want to try. I guess thats where the challenge part comes in, and I guess thats where you guys fall short: willingness to be challenged.

Oh and regarding goboom:

I dunno, did his forum access expire? He doesnt even have VIP? :[

Galdor 12-12-2004 08:12 AM

yea hes gold died.

LordZen 12-12-2004 08:17 AM

I guess I can ask a forum admin or Stefan or somebody about if we can allow somebody to post for Goboom for this, but thats probably a No. I will work on this..
