Come on, make graal for 1 handheld =(

Cmon!!! So many handheld devices and graal for none of them =(

zell12 10-04-2004 03:54 AM

That is because it would suck on a handheld. This has been tried before and failed.

ThinkDifferent 10-04-2004 04:01 AM

Well they could put an RC exe on there for chatting with others and stuff. At least an RC

zell12 10-04-2004 04:07 AM

No one will buy it and it will cost too much money to make. Think profit.

ThinkDifferent 10-04-2004 04:10 AM

I am sure graalians will ThinkDifferent

Skyerus 10-04-2004 04:14 AM

Yep, not many people would buy it and GraalOnline wouldn't make a profit.

haro41 10-04-2004 04:38 AM

graal is an online game. how do you plan on accomplishing this on a portable gaming system.

TESTRETIS 10-04-2004 06:14 AM

The day Graal Releases a handheld game is the day Graal gets shut down for good.

thrashsoul 10-04-2004 01:01 PM

I'd rather see graal for DS or PSP.

Alexander 10-04-2004 03:40 PM

RC for Palm!

Admins 10-05-2004 12:04 AM

We made a Gameboy color version some years ago, with character selection, several baddies, bombs, arrows, swords and 4 different tilesets. But there was no way to find a publisher that distributes the thing. Getting into the gameboy market is hard.

Slash-P2P 10-05-2004 12:07 AM

Graal for Pocket PC! Graal for Pocket PC!

Edit:
Hah, I remember planning the Game Boy version. There was some weird dude who was like the admin of it all, and everyone had suggestions that couldn't possibly go into a gameboy game. Whatever happened to that dude who ran Graal on Game Boy?

I don't think that's it.

i think it has more to do with the fact the game used to be called zelda online

Are you refering to that project not long ago with the forums and such? That was a chick, and I completely forgot what her name was.

...If they can make "Ultimate Frisbee" for gameboy....they can make GraalOnline.

I'll call up my executive friends at gameboy, brb.

It would need to be like Graal Kingdoms, in the sense that it's not Zelda like, looks nice. And then it would need to be a single-player roleplaying game I guess. If you wanted multiplayer then I'd say Xbox - I don't think it has many RPG Onine games.

Raelyn 10-05-2004 01:38 PM

<rant>
No, as a matter of fact, Xbox has a total of, get this, 0 RPGs.

PS2 is the only thing worthy of games right now, Nintendo produces lame Mario title after lame mario title, they have to produce all their own games just to sell anything.

Xbox only picks up action, such as fighting or sports, or shooters, which is why they swallowed DoA, Halo etc.

PS2 gets all the major titles that slither away from PC platform, by far, the best console for RPGs was the SNES, and it will remain that way for quite some time I think, even Sony knows that, and it's why there are so many classic remakes of the old SNES rpgs on PS or PS2 format.

Seriously though, consoles are for babies, PCs are far better if you know what you are doing. Who needs a handful of buttons and some analog sticks when you have a fully configurable IBM-compatible keyboard and a mouse is a far superior pointing device than the analog stick. I seriously can't help but laugh at people who play FPS on consoles, what the hell are they thinking?

Who goes out and spends $150 on an xbox, $20 on halo, and another, what, $50 for xbox live just so they can play halo online?

If anyone here says that they would, try this logic, if you are posting here, you have a computer and the internet, that's 2 down, 1 to go, halo has a PC version, and if you are smart, that's free. Anyways, that's all.

</rant>

Btw, Spark, if you read this, check your PMs, please?

Butz 10-05-2004 02:56 PM

Well, not only is your rant off topic, but it's also wrong in most cases.

So I suppose Knights of the Old Republic, Fable, and Morrowind don't count.

Right, because Tales of Symphonia and Viewtiful Joe were lame Mario titles.

They're thinking they'd rather have a system that works when they go to play their game, and not one they have to constantly upgrade just to play the newest game. Also, consoles are much better for multiplayer with a group of local friends. If you want to play multiplayer with friends on the PC, they all have to have PCs capable of running the game, all need the same version, have to have a good connection between them, and all need a copy of the game. Also, there's just something more fun about being in the room with someone when you take them out.

Nobody. The original Halo on XBox doesn't have XBox Live support.

Again, they may have a computer and the internet, but that doesn't mean they have 1) a computer that's able to run Halo, and 2) a fast enough internet connection. Oh, and last I checked, legitimate copies of Halo weren't free.

Anyway, back to the topic, the original demo of Graal wasn't bad, it actually looked pretty decent considering the hardware it was running on. As far as future attempts might go, It might be possible to do something with the Graal Kingdoms graphic style, but I think the gameplay would have to be changed a little bit, as well as having a strong story written for it. Single player RPGs are no good without a decent story.

fanboy - A person who is completely loyal to a game or company reguardless of if they suck or not.

Mykel 10-05-2004 07:39 PM

It'd be kind of cool for Stefan to distribute some of the origional GBC games for us to mess around with. I am sure some graalians would buy them, and you don't have to mass-produce them.

SSB:M, ToS, and PSO (depending on who you ask anyway) would like to disagree with you.

Hi, there are plenty of awesome games for consoles.

Fixed. And, although I can't speak for microsoft who seems to enjoy raping their customers for every cent they can, you don't need to pay for the other system's online capabilities as long as you have a connection. And if you're saying "well everybody has a computer" then I get to say "well everybody has a console."

In closing, I don't like you still.

Slash-P2P 10-06-2004 04:31 AM

I want to say that chics name was Naomi?

And I remember seeing a post by Stefan/Unixmad saying a few years (2002-2004) or something telling when whats gonna be done. It had translations, graal for different platforms (handhelds, consoles, etc...), and some other stuff. Whatever happend to that thread?

I disagree...XBOX Live sucks. Not anywhere near worth the money...
Gamecube doesn't have any online games besides PSO.
PS2 is good :-)

thrashsoul 10-06-2004 05:08 AM

I like xbox because mines modded

syltburk 10-06-2004 09:02 AM

LOL, i would never buy graal gameboy.. just thinking off playing it offline would make me start crying.. how boring..

Dont take to much offence, I think gameboys is boring generally all the time..

online games > offline games

ThinkDifferent 10-07-2004 12:14 AM

Stefan, making an RC client wouldn't be to hard for a palm or the new handhelds. As far as a publisher there are many you could pitch the idea who would be very interested in helping.

Malinko 10-07-2004 12:19 AM

RC for any PocketPC would be cool. People could check up on things if they are away or on vacation, or what not.

haro41 10-07-2004 12:39 AM

yes it would, but think about how many people would use it. same goes for mac RC. the graal development community is already very small, its not worth the effort when 10 people max would ever use it

zell12 10-07-2004 04:15 AM

People must be getting desperate or going through withdrawls
when they need to play grawl when they are on vacation.

falco10291029 10-07-2004 04:35 AM

The Nintendo DS could have a graalonline thing, since there is an extension for it you'll be able to get allwoing online play like the internet, plus u culd multiplay it locally, it's wireless ^-^. They could make a classic server and a GK like one for it on the ds, like both in a game, and then u connect to everyone else (not sure how it wil lwork for DS) and play, plus with all the DS's features, like touch screen, you could take graal further. (heh i sound like an advertisement)

The PSP has wireless capabilities too, you know.

Splke 10-07-2004 10:49 AM

Get this, most console games can be played on the PC, anything N64/PS or earlier can be emulated, most xbox games have a PC clone, simply because of the fact that an xbox is a PC with a console mask on, the only console I would own is P(O)S2.

I spent $500 on my graphics card alone and still managed to build my entire desktop for just under $1000, I think we established that I don't pay for games, as a matter of fact, the only thing computer related I ever pay for is hardware and the cable connection going into and out of it.

In closing, I really don't care who you like.

Nidonemo 10-07-2004 01:22 PM

I doubt Nintendo would like to support a game that they ordered to be renamed. As for the handheld idea, I'm thinking that the only thing you could get out of the game would be the quests, since there is no other Solo thing going on, it would absolutely kill the replay value. Also the creators of those quests are many and would require payment for their ideas. It's just a lot of BS that no one would like to get involved with really. I dunno what inspired the idea in the first place. :\

Of which would better suit this type of project. Out of the what, five? people that would even use a handheld RC, who is going to go to a "hotspot" just to connect?

All I have to say is, maybe when Graal is bigger.

Dach 10-07-2004 10:39 PM

Oh, wait, they both use 802.11 WiFi technology.. eggs I don't seem to be having luck finding the info on how Nintendo is going about setting up the internet connection. I know Playstation is most likely going to strike up a deal with most of the major providers, but isn't Nintendo going with their own proprietary stuff?
