Voice Communication on the Remote Control

Well I was thinking that it might be a neat idea to have some form of Voice Communication on the RC. Mabey something like Ventrilo or something.

There could be some options to customize this:
  • Enable/Disable the Voice function
  • Mute function
  • Different channels/rooms to talk/chat in?
  • Have the voice chat in a seperate window
  • Certian servers could use diferent quality codecs depending on their popularity (A popular server would get a better codec because it gets more players ;))
Just throwing some ideas around...

Meh, if chat is not enough for you, either use the ingame voice chat (which provides most of the features you request) or use some third-party solution.
You really do not need to bloat RC more for those of use who just like to use it to work.hang around on debug and idle ;)

You can use RC to have hands-free communication to chat about work or something, while you are using your precious fingers to make code or tile the levels. ;)

Yeah, Loriel is right, RC is intended for working. Not much sense in adding features promoting chat :\ even if it would be neat/fun

zell12 09-21-2004 02:12 AM

Who says it would be for fun? And who says working isn't fun? Your reasons are not valid. because I said so. :P

Curt1zzle 09-21-2004 02:48 AM

*Shrug* That's not a priority, sure, it would be semi-cool but...

Just get TeamSpeak II or something

My actual point was: This can be done very easily with third party software.

AAAAAAAAND if you do decide to go TSII plz list the Address because there are a TON of TSII servers lol.

1) Get teamspeak.

2) Stop asking for useless features to be added to a game that suffers from lack of content and functionality because all the devs are trying to add more features.

3) Log off of RC, you don't need RC to do work, you just need RC to upload the work you have done, if you are sitting around on RC talking to people and fall into the category that is whining about needing a feature to make it easier, you are obviously useless.

zell12 09-23-2004 05:39 AM

So I suppose people that are on the RC as Admins (doing the GP stuff or whatcha call it now) are they going to upload stuff and log off too? No.
It is a nice feature, to add once everything else is done that is needed to be.

All the devs are doing is adding new features? Do you know what they are doing? Have you seen what they are doing? Or doyou even know these Devs working on the new RC? I assume you are talking about that and not the game because this discussion as nothing to do with the game.

You entitled to your opinion just as much as I am, but you can do it in a less violent manner. Your post is full of disgust.

The problems with this are:
1) Dial-up
2) No way to log what's being said/done - staff could shout whatever at each other and there would be no real proof of anything.
