POLL: When sparring...
Remember when people used to strategize sparring/PKing techniques? From memory alone, I can remember the "S", "C", and the "T" formation. Does anyone else still use these, or what are some of your methods?
a. "S" formation b. "C" formation c. "T" formation d. other (which one?) I mainly use the "S" formation myself. |
I use the "Close my eyes and press buttons" formation.
|
..so I guess you're not very victorious in your matches :P
|
You're forgetting the old-skool circle style. No not half I mean full :P!
They call me "tight D" think it means im tight defensive. |

Nah, i used the strategy where...you wait for the bomb to explode, then swing your sword at the enemy. :) |
I'm not one to be giving sparring tips. My rating went from 2100 to 1450 in one match. :'(

Bah, I use the pin the enemy against the wall and swing when they cant move formation. I really don't have a formation, I just run around.
|
I always start out with a somewhat deformed c and then just do whatever
|
You should time your hits with your opponents swing. There is a point after a player swing where he is completely helpless and cannot evade your attack if you are able to find this time you are unbeatable.
Always swing to connect never swing hoping to connect. But hey... How should I know... Press S lots. |
I don't really care how anyone spars. I think my highest spar rating was 2200, but there was that time that I decided to try to get my spar rating to 0 (i got it to 290ish), so now it's like 1300-1400ish... I don't spar a lot anymore, no good places to spar. I'm usually good until I start thinking about technique and crap like that. Sometimes I mindlessly change what I'm doing if I realize another player is vulnerable to some angle or he's kicking my ass because of something.
|
I use C formation.
|
i swing the sword around in the air randomly and hopefully hits something xP

Anyway, i don't like sparring anyway, too much pressure. PKing -used- to be real fun, you'd all just be on one level, killing each other over and over and over again, because it was fun, not because you thought you had MADSKIZZL0RSONEONEONEONE.One. |
Using any constant formation isn't a good way to spar. In my days as "Inphektid" is where I learned how to spar so well. Too many people move in this pointless formations, and get nowhere but in circles, which, what they think, confuses the players. Sparring is tacticly moving toward the player with enough evasion and 'juking' that you open up an area in which you can move in and hit the player. Now, since I'm this new Thallen guy, no one credits me with being a good sparrer, and many believe I 'hack'. If you don't have some kind of supercool name like "Shadow" or "Exodus", people probably won't view you as a good sparrer. Oh well, I'll keep winnin', and they'll keep cryin'.

The worst people that I hate sparring is laggy/C formation people in spars. Almost impossible to hit someone like that.

I use the "what are formations" formation
:frown: |
Well Tom Chill gave me sparring lessons a LONG time ago, so he taught me to do , I guess what you would call the C formation. But I modify it with a little bit of choppy arrow pressing, and then I go in for the hit. A thing I've found with sparring is that defensive sparring will get you nowhere, I used to to it all the time
|
My spar style is based on my opponents spar style. Most of the time I am watching for patterns and then I just cut them off once I have them figured out.
My normal style is a c-formation in all directions and rotating in a circle while doing it. Doing them from top and bottom view seems to be the toughest for opponents to deal with. |
I wait for the oppent to swimg his weapon as I run close to him and around him, when he does, I hit him, if I fail to evade the blow I get hit(duh?). Works prettey well, when I'm low I just flip out and turn around swinging my sword XD
|
I use an diamond shape fighting style.
I stole it from a boss on N-Pulse |

The C Formation works well for me.
I like to call it the C-U-LATER Formation. Because the C... can you know... turn into a U on its side... and stuff... and then like you say C-U LATER GUY! |
is use the @ formation.
.... |
secret monkey style

I haven't sparred in a while, but I usually try to bait my opponent.
However, it only really works on people who can't time their swing right. All I do is run around a bit, get close-ish, swing, then when they come to swing (hopefully with their bad timing I will be able to move again) I do a quick arrow key jerk to dodge and come to their side where I slash them. Rinse and repeat. With more agressive sparrers, I run and juke and wait for them to waste their slash, which is when I move in for the hit. |
The only time I spar is deathmatch sparing, with 1 heart, basically first hit wins. It's way more fun that way, gets you pretty psyched out when you have alot of close calls. ^^
I don't really use a specific formation, I just adapt to my opponent per battle. |
Tight C, and when you have them cornered, kindof a.. S.
 too bad I'm banned on my best sparring server, t3h Classic |

I hate deathmatch. I get all tense and make stupid mistakes. |
You should move erratically when sparring/playerkilling. This way, your opponent cannot read a definate pattern of your movements, making it harder for them to hit you.

I use the c tech and move into different techs but either way I end up going around in circles enclosing him in a circle i think that is the best way to finish them off real quik. ^^
