help for thieves

It seems the thief class should have a way to level the agility in a faster way than just mining, You get only 8 exp per rock and that would get quite tiresome after too long.

could they be the worst class on GK and need some attention? Just wishing to steal from monsters for a change.

I stole from 1 bomy and it took me ~an hour. Got 20 exp from it.

I'd like to steal from players, really. Maybe just bmode players and just plat.

Maybe fix the other skills that aren't really effective too?

concealment/ does nothing that i know of, it was disabled, maybe redo the script for it so you have only an outline of yourself of just a trasparency somewhat is shown.

stealing/ it works, and stealing from other players is taken care of, so why the heck is it so toned down to the point that you can't even steal from monsters that easy? is there a trick to it? do i need agility or some other skill to actually succeed? if so post it here.

otorate/ it's what you learn from the scroll of leadership if anyone doesn't know, same as steal skill, it works but is ineffective. i guess it's for ppl that don't have the charm monster spell.

scaling/ not shown in your skills list and i doubt it even works like it should, i haven't seen the slightest difference when moving across the different grounds.

jeweler/ very pointless to even have this in the game since you never need to ID the darn gems you find, what was stefan thinking when he MADE GK in the first place????

bowyer/ also a pretty useless skill, i had it once, what kind of arrows do you need to ID with this?

that's all i can think of for now, why not fix the scripting for whats already here than making all this new junk to lag the server even more? maybe someone could teach me how to deal with it and i will. whoever does the scripting/graphics or whatever is either too busy to keep on one task before starting another or GK is (god forbid this being a sin to say O_O) a crossfire ripoff and was a failed attemt from it's release.

yeh i cannot lvl in agility im lvl 3 and only succesfully steal from a BOMY about 1 in 20 times

XiLe 07-17-2004 01:32 AM

A bit off topic but does agility raise just weapon speed or running speed too?

falco10291029 07-17-2004 02:40 AM

just tool usage so maybe wep speed

Seriously, the mud-lib was taken from Crossfire, so we're left with all Crossfire crap.

dude dont spam ok?

if you can steal from players the thief's speed should be cut in half allowing the person who got money stolen from him can retaliate and own the thief

For those of you that don't know how to level agility
you'll need a missle weapon of some sort
fire a ironbolt or arrow into an enemy you can steal from (depends on your agility level)
then make sure you have a free hand (don't carry a shield in the process)
if you have your stealing skill hotkeyed, just face the target and press that key
if it doesn't notice your stealing, you can steal from it again

falco10291029 07-24-2004 03:21 AM

Wow that shuld help a bit i have a bow i can use

ezwider 07-24-2004 03:25 AM

have one hand free and run straight at the monster spamming your stealing hotkey. works best on trex.

Dehitay 07-24-2004 03:33 AM

that only works if they have items to steal
Rexs usually have body parts, maps, or diamonds
but they don't always have something inside of them
putting an arrow or ironbolt in them is a sure fire way of having something to steal

falco10291029 07-26-2004 04:17 AM

yeah whatever i still think it fails too much
