nicknames in Kingdom
 

The question of whether or not to allow nicknames in Kingdom has come up, so before changing the rule, I figured the Kingdom as whole would be allowed to decide on it.

Nicknames would be limited to those that have a Pirate sound to them, such as Pegleg Pete or One eyed Sam, or some such name that would fit
into the Pirate Kingdom.

I would think it be best to encourage the use of a name like that, rather then force it.

I was thinking it would be fun and in the Pirate spirit to have nicknames, so many of the new players coming to us now are often put off by our requesting a proper name instead of being allowed to have a Pirate style nickname, and others would be more inclined to join if we allowed for something along those lines. Other Kingdoms have names specific to their kingdom theme, so why shouldn't we allow for Pirate sounding names?

As long as you don't let them have stupid ones like "LONG JOHN SILVEER OMG1!!" or "GRAALBEARD THE PIRATE LLOLOLOLLLL", or ones ripped from films such as pirates of the carribean or something, then it's fine.

I remember the pirate on 2k1, armouredear or something. He was pretty cool, a hardcore pirate 4 sewer.

Yes to some extent, we should be allowed them but we should also be allowed regular names

but what i do think is that there should be a cut down on the ammount of Japanese sounding names (we're not KJ if they want those names theres a kingdom for them)

Also what about famous people names, are we allowed that coz i for one dont think that Jet Lei(Jet Li) is suitable and far too close to the actors name

And yes, definitely DISALLOW like famous people names, and characters from games/films and stuff. "LOOK @ ME IM CLOUD STRIFE OR W/E THE HELL MY NAME IS, AND IM..uh...a pirate now o_O"

First they use RP names from LOTR, then they steal pirate names from Pirates of the carribean, then they steal names of azn actors, THEN they steal names from age of empires. What the hell is wrong with society today?!

i like the whole first name last name thing because any one can copy a nick name ( like many people copy my Alucard nick name

People should do what they want, but for me I'll just stick with my character name.

When GoldStri told me that Jet's name was close to the spelling of an actor I told the kid to change his name. Dehitay didn't tell me why he didn't like to name ......I told him the there was a kid named Ject in Pirates for many months. I thought the names sounded similar. I don't know every act in the world. If someone has chosen a name that is not inappropriate just let me know. Names can be changed easy enough.

This reminds me of the time I was going by "Assassin Jack N. Auffe (Crescent Pirates)" and Lisa said it was inappropriate or some such crap and demanded that I changed it, then I changed it to "Assassin Janis Joplin (Crescent Pirates)" just to spite her and she said it was fine. :whatever:

People wonder why I am never on tag, I'm sorry but "Assassin Raelyn Ace Cump (Crescent Pirates)" isn't a real strong pirate name, I thought "Jack N. Auffe" was quite a bit better.

Whatever though, I am banned now anyways because Lance thinks installing graal on another hard drive == hacking/editing graphics to walk on tables. :asleep:

No idea, I was on the table and I was typing up a PM, and after I sent it, I was standing next to the table and lance was ranting about something. So I was just like "Look, I just installed graal and this computer is a really slow piece of crap and since I only intended to be on for a couple minutes it would be retarded to unstick and lag my way back into the trade room, so go munch a n0ob or something." and he is like "I will." then he banned me from GK and left some message saying I was like, editing graphics files, or some misc. crap.
