Announcing the 1st Official Graalian Artist's Challenge

Well, I was quite surprised to find that nobody posted in here for over a whole day. That kind of worried me. I guess its due to the lack of new interesting topics. And so, I've decided I'd try to start a series of gfx exhibitions.

Everybody is encouraged to try their hand at it, it would just be something fun to do, to see how you compare with others in the community or just to have fun, you know..whatever.

I'll probably expand how in-depth these challenges will be in the future, like add more general rules, and if somebody could give some good suggestions I might even figure out some sort of prize to give out. At the very least, record somewhere the winners of past challenges. Or--should I even choose a winner, would you rather they were voted on? I'm more flexible right now than I will be in the future, because I would like these events to be uniform in design somewhat. Anyways, you guys tell me how you'd like me to do it, and I'll try to make this as enjoyable as possible. Really. :)

-----------------------------------------

Alright, now. *Takes a deep breath*

For this first OGAC, I dont think I am goign to worry to much about the subject, this is more or less our test run. So uh, lets all try drawing a monkey, chimp, ape, whatever. Also, its required that there is a bannana or part of one somewhere on the picture. Your free to be creative about the pose and the background (if you choose to make one), but there will be a limitation on colors. Oh, also, please no obscene poses! Lets stick to the forum rules and all. Also, please be aware that aesthetic quality of the peice is very important in judging. So be sure to choose a nice pose, etc.

-----------------------------------------

Guidelines:

Subject: Some sort of Primate and a bannana or part of a bannana
Dimensions: 200x200 pixels maximum
Color Depth: 16 unique colors maximum (should be easy x_x)
Contest Length: present - June 11th
Number of Submissions allowed: 2
Transparency: Optional

-----------------------------------------

And I guess I need to post the general OGAC rules also, so we will start with the following and build off that:
Quote:

Official Graalian Artist's Challenge Rules

1. Only submit your own original work.
2. All submissions may not have pre-existed. Meaning, you may not submit old things you have made in the past. The challenge is meant to involve some actual effort, and therefore your kindly asked to try. :)
3. Color depth includes the transparency color of the image.
4. Submissions are not to be accepted after the end date of the challenge unless a justifiable reason is communicated to Zen before that date.
Dont be shy. I encourage everybody to give this a shot. Even if you dont feel you are the best in the world, your own unique style and creativity will be a valued contribution. I would be disappointed if we did a few of these and I only saw the same 3 people showing their stuff, lol. I would like to see this be a big success. Good luck!

For a prize, maybe I'll add a permanent sticky, with the names of people who have won what. Dont know yet, I need ideas. I'll give 5 dollars paypal to the winner of this first challenge, how about that? :) Probably should make it a vote if I do though, so it will at least appear fair, lol.

Yeah crono wins, lets all go home x_x

ps. Yeah, sounds fun zen, although hm, so is it meant to be a small pixel work then, if we're only allowed 16 colours? Blah, i bet my monkeythingy would be crap if i tried, but i might do it some time next week in between maths revision.

pps. way to time this for when alarid's away without internet or in germany or whatever he said he was doing, ***** XD

Monkeys are our cousins, don't be rude to your family. :P
