Quests

Could finding those NPC's be easier? Or something? Like they always appear near a town?

I spent 2 hours trying to find one, on forest, with my font at 80, I even searched inside of houses/stores. But nothing, could there be noises or clues that we can get to find them? (Not like, They are on forest in the NW part) But maybe footprints? Crums? Or even N,S,E,W things on the map? (Different for every island) So that we can at least have a clue where NW, Or SE begin?? :frown:

It took me 5 minutes to find, just go to the shop, smithy, thing, and head that way a little bit.>>>

Did they ever finish that Spider Quest? That was such a big deal when GK first came out, and noone ever got to do it..

Limelight Panda 05-02-2004 04:21 AM

I hate you :(
It took me hours and you found it in 5 minutes!! Im telling stefan!

..sometimes i find npcs without even searching for them...
but panda is right, sometimes the npcs just seem to be missing...

The NPCs are 'lost' at random - it's no reason to complain if you ran arround for 2 hours, while someone else was lucky enough to run into one after 5 minutes. If they'd appear near towns only, there would be less to search, i.e. giving the faster players even more advantage over those with less speed, as there's less luck involved in being in the right place.

Wasnt the spider quest the on on start island? I think i remember they did finish it, the entrance was in a big ring of palm trees or something, and then you go down and there were these big long-legged spiders (i think they made sounds a bit like those underwater spikey ball thingies from Zelda:OoT). Most people just died instantly if they tried to kill them, or i did at least due to carrying hundreds of boards and iron, so they just ran past the spiders, to the chest, which contained a map. This map, once given to the pirate guy, got you onto mainland...i think?

Well, it might give them an advantage, but it always seems to me like they knwo every possible location anyway. Also, if it takes a guy with 3.1 speed (my speed) around half an hour to rake the entire island, then imagine how long it would take for someone with 7 speed to do that. Probably 5 minutes.
Whatever way you look at it, they come out on top.

Anyway, yeah, i've just given up looking on the pub noticeboard now, there's no point. The quest either disappears due to a powergamer within minutes, or it stays up there for days and noone can find it.
And those new waste-of-time trees don't help matters, either. At least you could see writing and people behind the old ones =/ And why do the gold key quests have to be the only ones that get you a gold key? (well, because there aren't any other quests, i know, but still -_-) And why on earth do they have to be so damned rare and hard to do? Quite a lot of people probably have 20 across the stat board now anyway, and stats/classes don't mean a great deal anymore anyway...

I often look for one, then find another one o.O Once I searched for like, a half hour, then I leave and suddenly I came across it :D You should mark their positions on the map, I found 3 that way. And the Dungeon/Haunted House are the easiest ones, but they're sometimes stuck in a wall.

Monkeyboy_McGee 05-02-2004 12:16 PM

Yeah the last girl i found was just standing in the dungeon while on my way to zormite. I got a master gear for it =/
And the problem with marking them on a map is that i've only ever found around 5-7 of the buggers in all my six months of playing, and the first few i didn't think to mark it. They are so hard to find that there is no way of marking where they are because you just can't find out.

Satrek2000 05-02-2004 12:21 PM

For one, they have to be hard as stat bonuses are about the best thing you can get, as they're permanent. They should not be too hard, I agree, but I don't see how limiting their appeareances would improve things.

Limelight Panda 05-02-2004 01:57 PM

What about that map thing at least? To have N, S, E, W, so that at least other plays can know where to search

Satrek2000 05-02-2004 03:08 PM

If you ask an NPC where the lost person is, you already get that - north, north-east, east, south-east, etc, and center.

He wants it to be clearly defined what is N, E, S etc.

Yea, to show on a map, where the dividing part is... since I usually search the land and the water

Is this part of a new quest? or part of the old first quest we have.

...im confused, is there a new quest?

Satrek2000 05-03-2004 01:31 PM

No, there's not. It's about the escort-NPCs, i.e. the cousin, the cartographer and the granddaughter.
