What is really wanted
 

Well, seeing as so many threads have been getting closed lately :rolleyes: , I thought I'd start one to discuss one of the matters at hand within this kingdom.

That matter at hand is the future of this kingdom. MarkB has already announce he'll be stepping down as Governor and appointing someone else. However, what is it that YOU want to see from the new administration of the kingdom?
What qualities is it that you want your leader to have or work to have?
Which qualities do you think are not as important or important at all, but other people seem to bring up?
What do you want to change in the future for the pirate kingdom?

It would be nice to see what you, as the members, want from the kingdom.

I'll start the thread off with my response to my own questions ;) :
I for one hope RPing is encouraged and improved in the near future of the kingdom. I don't know much of what goes within the kingdom itself, but I think the potential of the kingdom's RPing hasn't really been used much lately. There's great talent within the kingdom and it can be seen easily if you take the time to notice it- Cyrin, Kerith, Orlando... just to name a few off the top of my head.
I also hope to see more activity. This means not just the old boring world peace we've been seeing on GK, nor the one-night wars that are really just PKing battles and the winner of the "war" is determined simply upon statistics,levels, etc. A war is something that should last several battles long and also be made up of other activities besides a PK fest (which, BTW, isn't even needed for the war at all). Other activities could easily include preparations for the wars, ceremonies, meetings/public meetings to discuss interntational conflicts... etc.

Hmm.. you seem to really want this, don't you Ziro... propoganda is one thing I'm against... however...

I myself, think Pirates should be erased... they should not be part of the Kingdoms anymore... then, afterwards, we will see who can make a better kingdom... Mark, who could do the levels, gfx, and RP (however having trouble keeping it populated), or Ziro, who can whine, *****, complain, but still gain my respect...

In all honesty... I want to see somebody fresh... a new face introducing a new kingdom... Possibly a hybrid kingdom, kingdom of perhaps, say, rogues, pirates, and all the other low-life scum... That would make wars much easier to start, seeing, as too how, those scum, would very easily cause troubles to brew between kingdoms...

Hmm... I guess... if CP isnt abolished... then we will have the first Soap opera Kingdom... ugh... I hate to say this... but... I don't want anybody but GP to rule CP, it is his kingdom... whether or not he was banned is irrelevent... if he cannot rule, then none of you should be able too... Just my opinion...

-thinks- I'll cast my vote after I hear from Mark himself that he is stepping down.

Want what? The stuff I mentioned in my "answer to my question"? Sure, that would all be nice. I would like to see much more, but I was just keeping it simple to start this discussion off.

Lol, you're joking, right? The best i've ever seen markb Roleplaying was throwing a few limp insults (like, "you're stupid") at padren and nalle, and then telling NYchris to PK dustari and samurai. Anyway, onto the topic at hand, rather than starting up some flaming...

Urk, not me...i dunno why but i'd hate to be in charge of a kingdom. I know i'd screw it up, and quite frankly its too much work and hastle for me. XD


As for what i'd like to see in the leader, well, most of what Ziro said, i guess.
Roleplaying should be strongly encouraged. Non-RPers should not, under any circumstances, be recruited into the kingdom.
Also, the new leader should sort the ranks out, properly. I quite liked that idea of the captain/crew system, although the problem is that it is very hard to fill up enough crews, most likely. Especially now, after the Pirate's reputation has been once again smashed...
As for argo's idea of someone doing graphics to make a kingdom better, that's just rubbish. Items don't make a kingdom good, the people in it and their RPing quality do. You don't need items to RP, as satrek's said many a time (i think? o_O). I admit, an LAT in the kingdom would be nice, to make fun things for the kingdom to roleplay in, but who says that LAT has to be the kingdom's leader? Surely he has more important kingdom things to be doing like looking after the people themselves, and surely someone else in the kingdom, lower down, can do the levels?!?!!?!"?!?"R?!"£R?"?G"£$?GH

I'd like to see a new face also, a new face'd be quite nice. A person that's kind, -very- active, an awesome RPer, and someone who listens to the needs of their subjects as much as possible.
As for someone who starts fights, i'm not sure about that. As i've said before, fighting is part of RP, not the other way around.
What might be nice to see, however, is someone who can -organise- fights every now and then. Although it's supposed to be a pirate kingdom, and uncivilised, the leader should be good at diplomacy, and he should be able to touch sensative spots with the other kingdoms when needed. He should be able to arrange long-term battles with the other kingdom leaders like Ziro said. One-night wars suck. Long-term ones with fort building and stuff would be elite :cool:

but MarkB has already planned to have Kerith be the next governor after himself

And you want the kingdom to be populated... right? Please, your kingdom will be as '****ish' as Samurai, stuck with low-rank low-level *****s who can't RP either... You don't know what it takes to run a kingdom, so stop critisizing.

I love people like you. Making me laugh when your not trying too.. :o Lets see... Items, as in event items, can be EVENTED off, which would PROMOTE RP, if it is done properly... I swear, just because I said items, you imediately think I meant something like 'MAKE A BIG SWORD AND SHIELD SO I R PEEKAY' or some ****... Items make a kingdom better, they expand the ability to RP (in the idea that you have an event item with a story behind it), and bring joy to those who don't necessarily enjoy RPing (since the RP is for an item.) Erm... I was saying, perhaps somebody who could make the levels themselves could do it, and _then_ the kingdom would be made... I never said the LAT would be the king. For instince, if Mark were to make the new kingdom, he could do it _for_ the person he is appointing, etc... I never fully understood the idea of appointing somebody who couldnt do GFX or LAT work as king either however...

Well... heres the problem with the war system... Dustari -> Zormite -> Samurai -> Pirates... Yeah... works ****ing well doesnt it? Why dont they all just go crazy and attack Forest!!! Rofl.. there should be a... admin of some type who could monitor how long a kingdom is allied, and then eventually he could call the alliance a simple excuse for inactivity and make the kingdom break it... Makes hard for RP though...

New face would be good, active is good, RPer of course is good, but not the most important, and he has to be very attentive to the kingdom... lets not have a new governor every month like its been so far... :\

Seriously though, how the hell did you figure out that by recruiting only people who can RP, you'd get a kingdom that's just non-RPing "noóbs"? That's a hell of a mind you got there, dude.
As for ranks? Who the hell cares if you don't have a kingdom full of generals and field marshals and vice-priministers, as long as they can all RP and have fun. Have fun

Lololololololololol. Who said you had to have special items just to have an event? Most of the events i took part in when i was in Zormite didn't even have a prize, or else they were just little ones like spellbooks and such. The whole idea of kingdoms having Roleplay themed events is to roleplay special scenarios that might otherwise not come up, and to have fun. Have fun.
I might be wrong, but it seems to me like you think having RPing events with special prizes at the end to encourage non-RPers to roleplay [just to get the prize at the end] is a good thing. I disagree...if oxen don't want to plough fields, what's the point in dangling carrots? They'll stop working as soon as the carrot's been eaten.
Plus i've made myself clear that i don't think non-RPers should be recruited into kingdoms. :cool:

No, you don't understand. When your recruiting people, you give a standard RP test, which is incredibly easy to lie about. If you make them on-screen, they get help from friends, or just wing it. People you recruit that say they RP don't necessarily RP, I think you need to try running a kingdom before you even think about objecting to any method of recuitment or any statement I make about what happens when you try to recruit only 'RPers'.

Oh boy, here comes another *****ic statement. Its a kingdom, not some little fairy tale dream world okay? A kingdom HAS to have generals, field marshals, ministers, etc, and they can STILL have fun... You seem to forget, you represent a very small portion of GK, and that most people want a cool rank to RP with... it makes it easier, and FUN . Low-level *****s, fine, low-level '****s'. I don't leave Bomboria usually, so, you see, I have already won.

Oh, about the event item critisizm. People, as I've said above, don't necessarily know how to RP, but get into kingdoms anyways. They would like to have fun with events, sure, but why would they waste time RPing for nothing, if they could just go out and play the game, which for them is fun. I am talking about the masses here, not your pathetic little group of 'sole-rpers' who think your so great. Might I note, there are many events other then item events in my small time holding them, and I noticed that if I just involved a small amount of plat (since the on Forest the vikings had buried some for their .. something) or a ring, many more people would be involved, and they would have fun .

I really want you too shut up. You don't know how to run a kingdom, you don't know the first thing about events, or how to make it fun for alot of people, and you don't know the first thing about me, so don't ****ing generalize me as a pker. :\

Horrible analogy... just horrendous. You get the non-rpers intrested in events by having prizes, and slowly they begin to like rping, and they just start doing it in the regular events. Its a great concept actually, you just are stuck in your world where you can have one kingdom, with 20 good rpers, and have fun, and have wars, and actually win with your text! Yeah.. get a life. plx

He's a good pirate and RPer. Open an Anti-Kerith thread if you wish, so a moderator can close it for you.

I don't think events need prizes. The best ones (or my favorites as well as others) make it kind of hard to award prizes to single players. For example, one of my favorites is a war or rather, specifically a battle that's part of a war, because of all the people that can gather together and have fun. Who would you award a rare/valuable event item to in such a case? Would you give it to someone who PK's the most (if it's a stat/level PK-based battle...), or to whoever shows the fiercest attitude in roleplaying? But then that limits others who might not enjoy roleplaying as fierce characters, but are still EXCELLENT roleplayers. I think the prizes work well as OOC things. Let's say a kingdom has an event for finding a princess who was kidnapped and abandoned at sea. (The event can be something like.... there's MANY boats, whoever finds the right boat and gets to her first wins the event...and has to bring her back to the castle). I think it would be weird to believe that such a person in a real life situation would be awarded with a big fat sword. I would expect moreso- a medal, money, and a good rank in government/military.

About criticism: did you not go to english lessons at school, and get taught how to use quotes? It goes -> Comment, Quote, Analyse quote. You stuck a random quote in there and say i was criticising, and then when i call you on it just switched to previous posts and posts in general.
No, i haven't criticised the ranks -anywhere-. Some people've said that they're in a mess, so i said that a new leader would be good if he cleaned them up.
And Markb in general; well of course all i'm bloody doing is criticising him, you *****. I don't like the way he's got the kingdom; i was planning on trying to join it at some point but the past few leaders have sucked (although im beginning to regret ziro's removal -_-). I mean wtfs, if there are two mothers and one of them beats their children, the other mother doesn't exactly go up to her and say "I like the way you're scarring your children. You really should put more movement into the wrist when you backhand - it leaves a bigger mark"

Recruitment: Well holy crap, dude, if you're a solid RPing kingdom and you see that one of your members never RPs, you don't just say "jolly good, it's 1am and alllll's well". You remove him, or if he's willing, teach him how to RP.

Ranks: Now you're pretending that i frown upon a kingdom with any variation in rank and heirarchy. Of course you have to have different ranks, but not everyone can be the leeto Battle Commander with TADGPHR rights, can they. Most people are in low ranks, that's the way everything works (offices, school, beehives, ancient civilisations, etc etc). And why isn't being one of those fun? It gives you something to aspire for, something to hope for - to one day climb the ranks. Motivates, too.

The masses and RPers: Lol, you know full well that the kingdoms are meant for Roleplaying. You should also know that originally, GK was meant to be for the roleplayers. When it was first released, most of the population (if not, then at least 2/3) consisted of Roleplayers.

Yes, as Monkeyboy pointed out... it's annoying how people say "People want to have fun." or "Get a life" when we bring up the topic of RPing. This is a message to all of those people:
Roleplaying is fun to roleplayers.
Kingdoms were made for roleplaying.
Graal Kingdoms was made for kingdoms.

Thus, if you look at things... GK is the RPing server.

First off, me and Mark, are not really friends. He hates me, and I've butted-heads with him.

I agree, RP is fun, yeah great, but the point is, ¾ of GK are PKers, poor RPers, or just find it boring. Your trying to convert one kingdom into a RP kingdom, instead of focusing on the ones that have the same problems... Yes, theres always been a conflict between PKers and RPers, but you seem to think that a kingdom only needs one... your wrong, sadly.

All I'm really going to say, is that if you enjoy RP so much, then don't shove your opinion down somebody elses throat because they disagree with RP, although I may of done that, try instead to help that person.. you all are blaming Mark for this kingdoms horrible state, when, in-fact, you aren't doing anything to help either...

First of all, "you're", not "your". This is very annoying and often makes me consider everything else you say to be pointless.

Secondly, if you're saying there's a problem with him trying to convert a kingdom into an RPing kingdom, you're stating that the kingdom isn't already an RP kingdom. Thus, you're clearly showing us that there's a problem. A kingdom is an RP group. That is a fact. Kingdoms were made for RPing. If you're saying a kingdom is a non-RP kingdom, you're admitting that there's a major problem as the group has lost its most important factor. Therefore, the problem isn't in Monkeyboy trying to "convert" (it's not converting if it's trying to restore things as they should be), the problem is that he, and everyone else that's in it for the good cause, HAS to try to do this.

Give somebody who has ideas the debug tool then... seriously, I have ideas that would revolutionize CP...

Anyway, what I wants to say is, that, if anyone had more 'right' to be Governor then anyone else, it'd be me, or Ziro. I'll tell you why:

Ziro - Was Governor, but was 'illegaly' removed.

Me - When Valder stopped playing, the Pirates had to nominate someone to be Governor. I got 3 votes from Pirates (and 2 from others I believe), but then MarkB was chosen by Valder.

Pirates is fun the way it is

If you were in Pirates and reading the guild messages, you would know about all the good things going on. I think we need this guy Monkeyboy McGee in Pirates. I've never met him, but just seen him in passing. But he sounds like someone who can help Pirates because he's active on forums and positive in his suggestions. So come on and join Pirates! No kingdom is perfect, but we have a lot of fun the way it is. We go the West Haunted House together, and go on maps. And it's fun to just get the crews together and go lord hunting or sharing maps. I hold classes to teach alchemy spells, I give out a tip of the day and also a crewman of the day award. I used to give out 1k plat for those people wearing tags, but I can't do that anymore since I spend all my time helping newer pirates by weakening T-Rexs and lords. I don't even have time to level anymore. So I hope we can get others in pirates who will help newer members by donating money or prizes, like I've tried to do. Giving and helping others are what really make this kingdom fun.

Some of the people that do help out a lot already, and are fine examples of giving members, are MarkB, Dehitay, Misty, Kerith, Cyrillin, Mitch, and Knightress. They have all held mini-events and some gave out their own prizes, or prizes I donated. Kerith also has something new in the works for a new Pirates event prize.

Once upon a time, Ziro had a RP event. It was like a story, kind of like playing house or cowboys and indians when you were a kid, except with pirates. So RPing is like pretending. To my knowledge, I don't think Ziro ever gave out any prizes. I always wondered what happened to all the kingdom event items, they were never given out as prizes for events when Ziro was governor.

So, Pirates rocks! Come on ye all to Pirates and join in the fun. Look for the
names Governor Gantec Thorn or Assistant Governor Kerith to join. They can join you up immediately. First Lady Alisa Steele, Mayor Misty, Mayor Bosh or Councilman Brian Keith can also take your application and submit your account name to them.

I'm flattered, really; that's probably the first positive thing ever said about me on the forums because of my nature, ***** o_O

But i dunno if i want to join pirates right this instant, it still doesn't have a proper management. Yeah, kerith is doing ok, and pirates seem to have stabilised, but the shadow of Markb (and his spare account ;) ) still looms over the kingdom, and i wouldnt want to be in the shade of that. I'll give it some more thought though :)
