Ok, well, remember the 'EoEoA' thread, where a lot of people offered to help? (6 people offered to help actually... not just in the thread) and so far we have gotten 0 real help (well, I haven't been ablt to contact one of them yet... but still, we're 0 - 5)

I am assuming these people just said they would help, so I would not kill EoA... but it just makes me mad at them instead.... especially when someone says they will help, then doesn't help, then ignores you when you try to contact them!

anyways...

Since I have given up on 'helpers' and I can not seem to be able to hire a scripting team myself, I would like to make this offer.

Instead of just killing the project, I would like to offer to merge with a playerworld which is already in development (or even public) which has already made quests, and NPC's....

EoA has a LOT of levels, and our graphics are awsome I think :P so the server we merge with doesn't even have to have a lot of levels, or graphics... just quests, and weapons, and have a similar theme (no futuristic servers or anything)

The merge would be negotiated, as to who gets what staff possition and all...

Lets see if this at least works... I'd hate to see all our work be done for nothing :\

If we could get all the scripting done on our own, I wouldn't merge... but that just isn't possible.

Even if we get helpers who will actually help, it's hard to organize people like that... It would be much better to just have a real team to work on the scripts together, instead of random helpers, who can't even devote much time to helping...

Argh make up your mind, but don't merge with some crap server; it'd be a waste.

Since i offered my help this is related to me.

1st. You should give us rights, i already told you to set my rights and give me a test level.
2nd. I already scripted what you told me to script, i was always logging on RC to check if i had at least a test level but i hadn't.

So, it's your fault. :\

1. You never told me what rights you needed, or anything o.o
2. I didn't know that... you never told me :o ok, so 1 in 5 did work

anyways, I am getting some ideas on what to do.... my idea will be fun, and great, if the people I need to talk to agree

You can't get 5 good scripters. If you can even manage to get 2 you'd be okay.

if you ask me i'm a very good LAT, and i can somewhat script, i would love to be hired if possible, and if you are wanting to merge, me and Zido are making our own server?? what do you think?

There is some bad history between Zido and ETD so the chances of them getting together again to develop a world is not likely to happen.

ETD, YOu beg for help but are never on when people go onto offer help...... As for a merge I would with EOA... But EOA is its own thing and shouldnt merge with anyone...

Take my word for it, ETD...you better take help as it is offered, because there is no such thing as full time, or permanent help on servers.

Take a leadership role, If you want people to help assign us work and tell us about it and we will do it, You just sit there and get mad that we "didnt help" but you never gave us work to do !

Angel: I try to give people projects, but most of the time they are like "oh, I can't do that..." or "ewww, I hate making those..."

I will give people projects, but it's hard, because the systems need to work with eachother, and if I have 1 scripter making 1 system, then 1 making another, and they don't talk to eachother, things will just get messy. Also, last time I tried to tell you the theme, because I wanted you to work on the systems, and you kept leaving before I even had the chance to tell you what I needed done. I have told other scripters what I needed done, and they just never did anything.

It's not as simple as to just give someone a project, because I need to find out what they are best at, and give them something to do based on that. Also, I'd rather give someone something to do, that they WANT to make, instead of something that they feel obligated to make.

I may seem hard to get ahold of... but that's because I am unusually busy this week. (I have a friend coming to visit me this week, starting tonight) So if I am away on RC, just PM me anyways... I have been just leaving my "-away' on my RC all day, even iff I am here, because I have been doing things around the room.

Forum PM's are the best way to get intouch with me... or maybe AIM/MSN, if you can get my contact info.

So, what happens if you do get "so called" full time scripters, you go public, then at some point (which, trust me will happen more likely then not) they quit? Then you go private again? There is no such thing as full time anything on these servers, all every staff member is, is a helper......Way, way too many PW's in the making, and nowhere near enough good staff to spread among them as "full time" staff.....heck, there isnt even enough to spread around as helpers :(
I'm not trying to be negative here, I just know what it's like from a Managers view.

Yea... I'm just mostly worried about the first few weeks, because I'm sure there will be bugs and stuff to fix... no matter how carefull we are

Also, it'll take at least 1 full-time scripter (full time, as in, they dedicate their full time to one server) to finnish us off, and make sure all the NPC's run together properly, and all that...

I really need a scripting cheif, which can just be incharge of all the scripting, because I am really not qualified for managing scripters... Guess I put too much faith in thinking that PD would stay with us... I really wasn't prepared at all to manage without him

Ben made me come on your server and help you with scripting, and all you did was hummed and harred, which really pisses me off. Perhaps it would be good if EoA had a storyline, or at least something to work off of. Scripters dont just pull npcs out of our asses, we have to have inspiration. You sitting there going "What do you want to do?" DOES NOT HELP. Give osrs some rights, and to be honest i think he is silly for helping you, He obviously doesnt have the "avoid unnecessary work" gene that other people have.

Robin, I gave you something I needed to do, and you were like "I don't want to do that"

so then I gave you something else... and again, you said you didn't want to make that, so finally I asked what YOU wanted to make, since it seemed I was picking stuff you didn't want to do

Anyways, we have a theme, AND storyline, and we have for almost a year and a half now...
Osrs has rights now.. I didn;t give him rights at that time, because we had not desided what he was going to make, and so I didn't know what exact rights to add.

Now osrs project is behind scedual :p

I asked you to make a sword system! It required making a sword template, but that didn't require any real gfx work at all... All you have to do is place some shield image in order, then use it to script... I could have gfx people make the real shield

After that, I asked if you wanted to do quests, or jobs, or weapons... and we talked even longer about what you could do...


And I wasn't acting any differently than I would have if Angel and Loriel weren't on. You just started yelling that you wanted rights, and I said I would not give you rights till we desided what you were going to work on, and you got mad....

but whatever, I don't want help from someone who keeps on asking for rights, and won't even cooperate when I'm trying to find what you would like to help us with
