Equip. set hotkeys

It's great that you can hotkey your equipment items to swap quickly... But I would like to see the ability to make equipment sets, and assign a hotkey to them...

Example.

Say I want to fight melee, I have an equipment set with a helmet, some armor, RoWs, and a sword...

But then I want to switch to magic use, so I have an equipment set of a wand, a hat, some kinds of rings for magic...

I would like a way to switch between all of those equipment pieces with the tap of a key... :O

Post comments... What do you think the Pros/Cons of this would be?

DragonX 02-08-2004 07:48 PM

Just set your fighting set to 1-5 then your magic set to 6-0.
Lazy bum!

Lazy bum!

That takes up too many keys... my numbers are for magic!

Oh.
Well yeah, that'd be an awesome idea!

thesaiyan 02-08-2004 08:21 PM

Good idea.. *high fives shadowless*

GoZelda 02-08-2004 08:55 PM

A great idea indeed.

xsirebrusx 02-08-2004 08:59 PM

why not just have it like on d2 how you just press w and it chages XD, couldn't be that difficult to script with thos really good scripters...anyhow i don't really know...sounds like a good i dea though haunter

I don't like it, too advantageous. A dude like me that has both awesome magic and phys things can easily just switch to resist spells, cast spells or so then back to a warrior dude for major phys offense/defense, speed, hp etc 1-5 and such is fine.

Perhaps we could have a delay of sorts... I mean, you could switch just as fast with the way DragonX said (using several keys) This would just save key space...

Medabee5111 02-08-2004 10:26 PM

actually there should be an animation for you putting stuff on, kinda like when you take a sword out, that would prevent in-battle switching :D

Not everyone is "a dude like you" though.

--Chris-- 02-08-2004 10:55 PM

Sure you can Haunter but it prevents many people from doing it, "a dude like me" for example relies on those 10+ buttons (2 sets of equipment, hell; there's more than 5 equipment each I think it's 8) for healing spells and such but let's say I could do it all in 2 keys...I sure would sacrifice 2/10+ of those :)

You said it yourself "my numbers are for magic!" =P

Edit: Woah Khallow, you really aren't the brightest bulb around are you? This suggestion wouldn't exist if it weren't for people having two sets of equipment. What an irrelevant, unthought, silly, pointless post you made ^-^

Yeah, that Khallow is a real idiot, isn't he.

I think this was suggested before, and while I think it'd be really usefull, I also see the disadvantage of it, making the strong ones even stronger. maybe it could be restricted to the rings, i.e. 1 hotkey for fighting rings, one for magic or prayers, one for shopping...

Besides, is it me or is there any way to use ijkl ad hotkeyes without their moving component?

I think it's an awesome idea, but what chris says kind of makes sense.
But i think what khallos meant when he was all like "not everyone is a dude like you" was that not everybody is a powerhouse in both/either magic and/or phys. Only the powerplayers are, and so:
It should only be available to Pmoders, since Bmoders could abuse it to kill even easier. Just a minor thought though.

But alot of kingdoms require you to be in Bmode... You shouldn't suffer for that... Too bad there wasn't an AP type system on GK...

Which kingdom does? I can't remember any such rule for Dustari...

The biggest idiot though, is the one who doesn't care about other's short-comings, or little errors.

Ever heard of a typo, idito?

Satrek2000 02-09-2004 08:10 PM

Calm down, everyone - cussing won't help it.

I read something in the CP rules about having to be in Bmode most of the time... though it said there might be exceptions....

One key, one item/spell/prayer. If you assign another to that key, the previous one will be dropped.

Kaiser2 02-12-2004 01:46 AM

I really like Haunter's idea.
Nowadays, you can do the seperate sets anyway, like, I set my helm and armor to r and t. My sword to y, my wand to u, my magic hat to o, and my spells to 1-8. 0 is for prayers, and f, w, e are for alchemy, woodsman, singing, or stealing.

See, I can still switch between anything to anything else to take advantage of a situation, but with armor sets, it'd just be a lot simpler.

Loriel 02-12-2004 02:25 PM

I dislike the idea.
The equipment system is unrealistic enough already.

It's not meant to be realistic... It's meant to be convient, yet still practical... or something 0.o;

How do you think the equipment system should work?
