I would like to see cheaper prices

or atleast a better way of getting money, I mean really, killing a lord is hard, even though Im part of a kingdom, have a house and 7 spells(Satrek said magic bullet was the best)its hard, seriously, a single loaf of bread is 250 food, and only sells for 3 gold, and then, you decide to go shopping and then you see this:small snowstorm, 356 plat, or:small snowstorm 96 plat, fishing is too long, and also, corn here, you can just dig a !@#$ corn out of the ground, the plant it for five more, you go into bombarias shop and you find it for a plat:\ it would make the game funner if there was a better way of getting money, or the prices are cheaper, I also think it should be cheaper cause when I get killed I lose half my plat(I got to 86 plst to 20 plat, rock bottom)

Ironically the problem is really the opposite (inflation.)

Here's an easy thing to do. Find out where the mushroom lord is, and go stalk it. Eventually some player will come around and kill it, and you can take a spore. Take that spore and convert it into a magnifying lens, and have someone who's blessing stuff (if they're nice enough) to bless it to +2. it will now sell for 300-1k (depending on charm). repeat as necessary.

GoZelda 02-01-2004 07:44 PM

I use that to get money.
And there's the fact you barely see any good rings :\

Borgie 02-01-2004 08:16 PM

the way many oldbies make money is just okay...
still, it would be more even if you could make a living with "normal" work.. like farming or crafting, especially for newbs

Err, last time I checked, making bread was quite profitable, since you could sell most special bread for over 20 plat each.

Borgie 02-01-2004 11:36 PM

true, still not to compare to some blessed things

Most of you are right, this person just needs to know what to do. This is what I did to start off INDEPENDENTLY (well...untill later..that's when my friends came back to GK and helped me...)...

-Restart your character
-Choose warrior with fairly balanced stats (having str/dex/con all be the highest, but still have fairly good int and wisdom at least 14 for wisdom and intelligence...at least 10 charm)
-If you don't start with scroll of piety, repeat the previous steps untill you do.
-If you fail to learn scroll of piety upon starting, repeat those last 3 steps.
-After leaving start island, with the tools you got from the quests, get more tools for farming/baking bread.
-Farm corn and bake lots of bread.
-You should be getting rare breads and if you're farming enough, in one round of baking, you will have over 100 plat worth of bread.
-If you can find the spell "cause light wounds" in a RANDOM-generating store, it should sell for about 100 plat...buy it then. If you can't find it for cheap, farm and bake more and buy it for the more expensive price in Tanarthia.
-If you don't learn the spell, repeat the previous 3 steps.
-Once you learn the spell, choose a god if you havn't already (I prefer gov or Ogma since I'm not sure how easy it is to level with cause light wounds if you worship anyone else....if you don't like these gods, you can change later).
-Hunt down T-Rexes and if possible: lords.
-Since it'll take a while to level, you may get bored of this and want to do other things. Try going mining....sell diamonds for 300 plat per piece of 250 if you want faster sales...
-Eventually, you'll get to level 12 wisdom from hunting rexes and lords.
-Go mining (again?) and get some diamonds.
-Make diamond blades and bless to govannon+3 or ogma+3 and sell those to the stores or players for at least 900 a piece. (If your charm is too low like 10 you should TRY selling to players with high charm who can make a profit form buying those swords for like 900 a piece and then selling to stores for ~1200 a piece.)

If you don't understand anything, ask what it means and people should explain it here.
This is the sad way around the imperfect world of GK. You have to cheat your way through. This is probably the things I did.

True, over the course of many weeks it starts to lose it's edge. But right off of the starting island, anyone can make bread, while you need piety and level12+ wisdom to get any decent cash from weapons. By the time one person got to the level 12 with piety (assuming two people started at the same time), another who was only baking bread would be quite rich.

That's why bread-baking was just a "step" in my guide. ;)
Actually, starting as a priest lets you skip some steps....and if you start as a priest with scroll of missile weapons,I guess you'd be just like that warrior except your stats would be shifted x.x
Most people seem to prefer melee guys though.

For new people, i'd suggest Bile. It means that you don't have to waste half your time obtaining food and such, and it isn't that hard to cast small woulds (i don't think so, anyway. the only reason i had trouble with it is because i was a barb with like 2 grace XD). Plus bile's avatar is quite good, if a little slow, once you get to level 10. Once you're like level 12, switch to a better god that gives better money for blessed weapons (like gov or leuc or ogma[?]) and level up until you can bless really well :D

Only Govannon and Ogma have a blessing level every 4 wisdom levels (at least below 20). Leucetius stands in line with Bile and the others (except DianCecht) as far as blessing is concerned.

Getting a sustence amulet helps by needing less food, and it's enough, and you can switch to a god to get some bonuses you like. But if you can't afford the 300-400 plat for it, then choose bile if you wish, though it's not so hard to get food or ask to be restored.

True. bile is a fun god though, with the undeadedness and the cool avatar and all ;)

SPECIAL BREADS these are really rare:\

Ziro_Vitrudestec 02-03-2004 06:22 AM

Also, you can just bake bread for food since you'll be making money from the "rare" breads anyways...and eating the normal breads.... so no Bile needed there x.x

I usually get 1/3 of my bread baked as special bread, though maybe I'm just insanely lucky. Or you're really unlucky. :\

if I do that then Ill lose my 7 spells and lv 6 sorcerer, plus, I get special bread also 1/3 of the time except there usually bread of pep:rolleyes: and thats only a plat, plus I have a spore, don't know where I can get a magnifying flass, one last thing, I sold 2 diamonds for 300 plat, thats all

Splke 02-06-2004 08:49 AM

Lame lords... gov+5 bow with 500 arrows at level 10 phys ... its possible to kill it without wasting all the arrows... then just sell the spores (mushroom lord) and the parts... eventually you'll earn some plat

axman36 02-07-2004 02:37 AM

now someone gave me scroll of melee weapons, he/ she had 2, first one failed, 2md did it, my diamond blade of ogma is powerful, just need someone to bless it to 2.
