i wasnt sure where to put it...

when i press start in the new graal client, it starts to open the serverlist, then a message pops up saying that the connection couldnt be established, then graal closes

I have firewall and it's not getting in the way. Don't think that firewall would be the problem...then again it might.

Firewalls aren't all configured to block the same ports. If the port the list server uses is blocked, that's obviously going to cause problems.

If it IS a firewall, the port that needs to be unblocked is TCP port 14922. At least that's the port it connects on for me. Oh, and if you need it for more security, the server it connects to is listserver.graalonline.com.

Btw, if your dad's computer is the one relaying the data to yours, then it's very likely that the firewall on his computer is what's filtering out anything you receive. What I mean is... if the ethernet cable from your computer is connected directly into your dad's PC rather than some other piece of hardware (router/switch), this is the problem you could be having. You'd just need to unblock that address/port on the firewall.

i believe all the computers in my house are connected to a router... but, i cant add a port because i dont know the PW to change stuff... :( :( :(

Bah, most routers have built-in firewalls. So yeah, you'd need to be able to check if that port is blocked... and if it is, unblock it for that specific address.

for my ip or listserver.graalonline.com?

listserver.graalonline.com
That would just make it more secure.

If you do that, it would only allow connections on that port from that specific server rather than ANYONE.

:| :grrr: grrrrr :| :grrr:
i had my dad open the port, still unable to connect

i installed the previous version (2.2.1-1) and was able to connect to the serverlist, but couldnt connect to the server because i need 2.2.2-0:grrr: :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

edit: the port is open through the router, but my computer wont connect... works fine on my dad's linux computer... extremely laggy though

jrm_iii 02-15-2004 07:01 AM

yay!!! fixed!!!
my dad reinstalled zone alarm, after it had been partially uninstalled by a RAT (most likely how it got deleted)
