Graal Error (npcserver?) and lagginess

First problem:
Every now and then the npcs and even my staff rights stop working and I would have to reconnect to get it to work. Like the npc wont even respond, and even warpto or update level or anything else wont work. It seems to be a problem with the npcserver, i'm not sure.

Second problem:
I have a NVidia Riva TNT2 gfx card and it works for any other games, but when it comes to Graal it lags with lights on. Does anyone know a way to tweak it or something. Also when I'm on a level, I can only see other people flash across the screen. I have cable and a rather fast computer and it doesnt lag with any other game, so what's up with Graal? And once a player passes the level boundary, I see the player frozen at the boundary but they're actually way past that. I would have to walk to the other level to be able to see the player move. How can I fix these annoying problems?

For some reason, Graal takes more resources to run, than Counter strike or UT2003. The light effects are retardedly laggy, even for my AMD2300+ 512mbddram with a raedion 9600XT 64mb

Yes. Graal is not cool for graphics and running smoothly.

Even quake II in software only mode at a decent resolution runs faster.

So in reply, have you guys found any way to tweak it or some how speed it up?

Mabey you can edit your packet rate somehow or something. I don't know.

As for your other problems. It's impossible to say.

I would start with making sure all your serverside scripts are of good quality, a bad one could easily ruin a server. It only takes one really bad one.

I'm 100% sure its not the npcs, this also happens on other servers too.

It seems like the npc server stops reconizing you as a player, and wont respond/wont send anything to you.

If you refuse to believe that, next time someone says its not working, set their attributes, it will say set attributes of (offline) player blah, when they are infact online.

So how do I fix it...Stefan!!!

TNT2 isn't a graphic card that has hardware support for graphics. heh you can't expect much from that $5 card =p (except when you're using it on a old linux box)

...I've had this computer for a long time, maybe it's $5 now (which I doubt), but it wasn't when I bought it. And it works fine on everything else.

I am playing Graal on Riva TNT so that shouldn't be a problem, it's fast for me on my 300 Mhz computer. What OS are you using? You have installed good drivers I guess?
For the problems with not seeing players moving: disable UDP in your Graal options.

I'm using WinXP, and I have the latest driver for my gfx card. I alos have UDP disabled but it's not working. The problem is that I can't see people move in other levels. I can see those move in my level. Once they leave, they seem to get stuck at the end of the level where the warp link is. It's very annoying when you're trying to pk someone on a map.

Admins 01-28-2004 02:13 AM

On classic maps (setmap) its normal that you don't see people of other levels moving if you don't use UDP

R0bin 01-28-2004 03:18 AM

I am not using UDP.

I can see players moving fine, However, if i log on to a server with my RC first, then log onto the server with my player later, no scripts do not update when i update them in RC. e.g. i have an npc that messages "HI!" and then change it to "Yo!" and then update the level, the npc still says "HI!" Perhaps it should be fixed?
