Graal v3 Not Starting
Here is my problem. I download version 3. Everything installs correctly and all is well. Once I try running it, after a few seconds I see the screen flashes 2 or 3 times. Then it goes back to normal. After a few more seconds, I see the Error Report Dialogure Box pop-up (I'm using Windows XP). This has been happening for all the version 3s except for the first one. Can anyone possibly help me with this problem? Thank you.

sorry
Sorry for double-posting, but some help would be appreciated. =/
Thanks.. |
Is this only in online mode, or does it do it for the tutorial as well?

Lucky, when I try and open v3 nothing happens. I check to see what programs are running and it says Graal3 is running but I see nothing. Nothing at all changes on my desktop to see the program load.. Running Windows XP as well. :(

Qwert, its does this when I try to 'start' the program..

What OS, cpu, gfx card ?

Need for Speed Underground used to be like that for me, I updated my gfx card drivers and that seemed to fix it. v3 does take a little long to open, but it does open for me. |

Windows XP,AMD Duron Processor/897MHZ(I guess thats what you're asking), S3 Graphics ProSavage. |
I'm running on Windows XP, Pentium 4 Processor 1.5 Ghz, umm I think Nvidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400
|
I have a small problem also..
If i run Graal3 using a shortcut i make on my desktop, it shows up in the process list then quits. I actually have to go to the directory it is in and run the EXE like that, it doesnt work with a shortcut. |
I think I might've said this before on another thread, but Graal could have a loading screen so people don't go nuts about it not starting... v3 takes a bit long to load for me.

Duwul you have instealled the latest drivers for your gfx card? The default XP nvidia drivers never work. Also please check if you have a console.log in your Graal folder and post it here |
i have the default xp nvidia drivers and v3 works fine for me but i have a geforce4 mx
|
drivers
I'm going to download the latest drivers.
If that doesn't work, I will post the console.log. I have read it, and I believe it said No D3D Drivers found. Same with OpenGL. If the updated drivers don't work, I'll post the console.log. Thanks for your help so far. [EDIT] Oh by the way I don't use the shortcuts I just go to the run box and type in the path for it. [/EDIT] |
Hmm sorry for double posting, but now it's working. I downloaded the last drivers, and now it works fine. =D
Thanks everyone for your help. <3 |

These new graal versions seem to be having lots of problems o_o

...
The black boxes in .mng files is due to 3.0 using a different MNG format than 2.2. I'm pretty sure 3.0 now uses the real MNG format instead of a modified one. So the existing MNG files need to be changed. |

v3 uses the standard mng now with some little fix by me to handle the delay between frames better.
A problem is the transparency of the images. The images actually have wrong transparency. For gifs I have added something for trying to fix the transparency at run-time, but pngs and mngs need to be fixed by using some image editor. It is also possible to use the gif2mng program included in Graal to fix the transparency of most pngs and mngs made by Graalians (run gif2mng 'filename'). The transparency problem in many images is this: two colors in the color palette are the same. The first index is used for the background, but the second index is set as transparent color index. In Graal v2.2 the transparency is done by setting a transparent color value (e.g. white, black etc.), so both color indexes appear transparent since they are the same color. But in v3 and in the png/mng standard only the transparent color index is transparent, as supposed to be. So the other color index, which has the same color but is not set as transparent, will not appear as transparent, so you get some border around some images. Please tell the manager of the playerworld to fix it. |
