Pet system

Can there be a better way to keep useful pets like horses?
I took about 3 hours getting the damn horse to like me after it hatched, and i left it in a building about 24 hours after it was fully grown.
The next day, I log on, and Lo! some idiot has nicked it
Please note: This was one of those buildings with nothing in it in Tarnarthia where hardly anyone ever goes.
I'm quite annoyed with this, and can't be bothered to get another one because of the amount of time it takes.
Is there any way that only 1 person can ever be liked by a horse, to stop pet stealing? Because that's basically a waste of 3 hours. And can you improve it to make it take less time for a pet to like you?

If you feed it, the "likeness" increaces much more than normal A petting... Also, make a house, and keep the pet there ;)

Yeah, I know that, but you have to wait ages for the thing to become hungry in the first place
And expending plat going back and forth between islands is impractical
So could we integrate a way to stop stealing pets?

You are in Dustari, so you don't pay the plat for the Dustari ferry...Make a house on Dustari!

...not to mention that 5 plats is not a lot to spend each time you begin/end a session of playing. o_O

Khallos_2k2 12-12-2003 01:02 AM

I have a house on Dustari.
My point is that it is impractical to spend about 5 mins coming to/from Dustari every time i log on/off.
Anyway, apart from me, loads of other people get their pets stolen and complain in masses/toalls who DONT have houses.
Youre taking this thread in the wrong direction; im talking about pets being stolen as a whole, not just mine.
And i know 5 plat isn't a lot

Create a stable where you can pay a small fee to keep your horse in. OR create a LOST AND FOUND SYSTEM!! lol (j/k)

Dustari had a stable when horses first came out.
Arin Tayde was the assistant there, however, the owner of the building was not really into it, and it eventually fell apart.
You could always have kingdom run stables, but then you have problems with the following.
a) Someone from the stable has to be around for you to get your horse/drop off your horse.
b) Someone from the stable has to be around to feed the animals.
c) Trustworthy people need to want to do it, and well, since we don't even have postmasters and/or postpeople in most cases, well....

Keep your horse in your house, and make sure everyone who enters it feeds it, i.e. stays as long as it takes for it to get 100%. This way, it'll never starve, even if you don't visit it for days.

*Sighs*
The point I was trying to make is: Can't you just make the system so that only the person who hatches the egg can do stuff with the horses to cut down on theft and to help those people who don't have houses?

Salli 12-13-2003 04:22 AM

If you leave you pets inside your house, they most likely won't die if you don't visit the house ever so offen. Their constitution will only stop at 3%. However, if they are at 3% and you're in the house, you have to feed it before it dies.

I make horses like me whith food, , I see a starving hose, I give it food till it constitoitun is in the 80s then give it bread, bread makes it like you 50% up, but 1 makes it full(my horse gets hungry every minute, doesn't ever take ages)

The problem with is would be this: only you can feed them, and specially when two or more players share a few horses, this can result into some grave problems, specially when multi-ownership is taken out. What about this: when a pet hatches, the person who dropped the egg gets a few egg-pieces, say 5. Everyone who holds one (or, to save space, eats one) will be concidered owner by the pet.
