Lol, alright, sorry XP

one of the best ways to make the illusion of 3 dimensions on a 2dplane is to use perspective points, there is 1point, 2 point, and 3 point.

Here's an example of a 3point. Pretty straight forward, you pick two points on the horizon line, then a 3rd somewhere inbetween those, either above or below the horizonline then all your lines are drawn using those points as anchors.

I do see where you were going with this, though.

I think you mistook shading an oddly shaped object as making it 3D. making somethign 3d is more about perspective then coloring.

Its the common abuse of the gradient tool to make graphics look "cool" :p

Hey, saw this thread, so I messed around with a try.

haunter 12-05-2003 03:14 AM

Here is my example of a 1point perspective drawing...

It's simple just to show the mechanics (if you will) of the drawing.

The red + Is my vanishing point, this can go anywhere on the page that you wish depending on what kind of effect you want... Notice how only the lines that will protray depth all point towards the vanishing point.

haunter 12-05-2003 03:17 AM

And here's a 2point perspective... Again, the red + s are the vanishing points.

Normally the two points are on a common horizon line... I dont really know why, I suppose there's some reason, i've never experimented... But yeah, notice how the vertical lines stay vertical.

what the hell? since when is gradient fill 3d?

That question's been asked... But, nonetheless, the answer is... it never has been, and it never will be...

One thing I would like to learn how to do well is how to make rounded objects look 3-d... (Spheres, Cylinders, Domes). I'm not very good at that :(
