Just a thought
Well, for one the rules need to be more enforced. I see people with OOC names and people talking OOC like they were IC all the time in toguilds, i mean are they letting anyone in? Dustari is an RP kingdom and should really make sure only good RPing decent fold are let in, not just anyone who knows what OOC and IC is.
And it would be nice if the Prince or Queen or someone hosted a group RP in the castle such as a feast or a ball or something every once in a while, but make sure they announce in before date. If only GK had a calendar and time system. |
You're talking about 2k2... so just give it up.
Go on 2k1 when RPing comes out because 2k2 RPing suxoroz |
You can rp without an event or someone telling you to, you know? When I'm online, I stick with ic when possible, and we've done some good rping which every participant enjoyed recently. Not by meeting somewhere, agreed, but still it was fun - more than a meeting would be, as onscreen-text is nowhere logged.
Also, how can you enforce that rule? It is to put ooc on double brackets. Most people do. It isn't a rule that people have to rp, and you can't force them. You can force rping the same way you can force a frog to compose classical music. If people don't want to, they won't, and if they are forced, they will rp crap. |

2. Yeah, but Dustari is an RP KINGDOM if people don't like to RP, why the hell join a kingdom about RPing? And yeah i know most do, but some people don't even know what RP is or don't like it, so why let them join? I didnt say force them to RP, just atleast let people who like to RP join an RP kingdom and have them follow rules, not a bunch of people who are like "omf i pwnn!!1" |

2k1 is a MMORPG... 2k2 isn't really. |
I don't think that Dustari is more of a rp-kingdom than all the others - in theory, that is. The reality may be different, but I cannot check the other kingdoms' toguilds. You're right, most people did not join only to rp. They joined because friends invited them, or because they think it's fun. RPing will come over time, and if not, who does it hurt? You can always find someone willing to rp, and if there's someone who doesn't want to - for whatever reason, maybe he's shy? - you can still rp. My point is that forced rping won't do any good at all. You need encouragement and examples, and I think Dustari has a share of both.

being an rp activist is fine but you gotta rp, not just make every toguild like
((why don't we hold an rp event?)) ((we should all rp)) ((rping should happen more)) .....without even any ic toguilds. o.O I always rp back unless I am putting out a fire, and 90% my toguilds are done ic, even if there is no giant festivities at the castle or such. I think some people want to be rp police more than they want to rp, not you Emily, but I do see that in many people, and I don't like it. Basically, I really invite everyone who wants to rp to....rp instead of mention how no one rps. just start with being ic in the majority of your toguilds, rping is contagious if enough people do it. If it can be rped, then rp it. When it has to be ooc, then use ((brackets)) but not unless you can't say what you want to ic. if needed, break it into to parts. Rp the first half of a message, and ((wrap the ooc parts)) to be sure you get across what you need to say. when people ask which God I worship, I never say ((gov)), unless in a real hurry. It's always better to say: I have worshiped the dwarven diety Govannon all my years. ((can bless +4 now too :D )) Just my 2 cents on RPing: There is no way to complain about lack of rping while ic, so go in character and have some fun with it. |

And if they go against the RP rules (for me it's twice with warning) then they should rather be A) Executed B) Demoted and taught RPing skills |

Also, I don't like too harsh measures to be taken, as they have no effect - when you get a reward, however small, for rping, that will help the situation, but if you threaten to demote or whatever for not rping, people will not be inclined to rp. That's just not how punishment affects people. To me, the best way is still giving a good example and hope the others follow suit - and they will, if there are enough examples arround. |

say everything ((ooc)) no one can hassle you then. Rping is stilted *more* when people are worried that they may have their head chopped off for using 'thee' instead of 'thy' in the wrong spot. And you have the issue of enforcement, people can be hanging out with their friends on tag in the pub, and someone asked them about what they can bless to, they say +4 BOOM - OMG OFF WITH THAT OOC FREAKS HEAD!! If one witness in the kingdom is say..........after that players rank, they will of course report it and make a stink, even if they themselves do worse more often than not. Do you want to demote him for that, and loose a good person who is good for the role he was chosen for, so the other lamer can feel vindicated? People RP for fun, take the last of the fun out of it, and then we'll see 'not rping' at a whole new, frighteningly low level. |

In my opinion, people who try to enforce rping above all else are as likely to ruin other's fun as those "pwners" are. I play kingdoms to have fun, and rping is part of that, yes. But if it's forced, it's not really fun anymore, and that's not the point in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I do encourage rping and try to do it myself, but I don't spend my time cussing others for their "lack of skill," whatever the reason.
