New level FINALLY

Well..This took me about 4 hours of fiddling with tile for cliffs ect and I think i've almost got it. I read some tutorials ect so this is the product plz rate.

Jesus told me that multicolor trees are stupid.

The half and half trees do look bad. I recommend keeping those solid. Good job on the cliffs the backside still has tile errors but it definatly looks alot better than your previous level. I recommend taking out some bushes and swamp tiles right now your level just looks cluttered. Its ok to have open green grass tiles as long as the whole level isnt that. Overall much betterthan before. I'd say about a 5 maybe a 6 but the level could use some work definatly much better though.

Not to good of a level for taking 4 hours on it.
5/10

DenoriZakarum 10-02-2003 02:16 AM

7/10 you need to take those split trees out, they...scare me

Zethar 10-02-2003 02:40 AM

ok lol
I'm working on it now. I'm setting dusk2 as a backpal and adding lamps and taking a fair amount of the swamp out and fixing my scary trees

Nick1988 10-02-2003 02:49 AM

5.5/10, much better than your old one.

kk try this now ;o
Took draygins advice but I cant find the tile errors :(

Judge_S 10-02-2003 05:22 AM

I don't like the path. It feels to blocky and square.

Yah it is. Now that you pointed it out.... I'll change it.
Give it a rating don't just point out flaws...

draygin 10-02-2003 05:10 PM

Lighting effects are far supperior to backpals which are crap. I recommend taking out the backpack and maybe if you want it to be darker use seteffect #,#,#,#; replace the # with numbers between .0 to 1 nothing higher than 1. But dont make it super dark so we cant see. The tile errors are on the back side of the cliffs. If you look the tiles dont line up properly.

heh, usually it is the other way around. ;)

I really don't see what the big deal is with ratings. I'd rather recieve tips on how to improve rather than an unofficial number value. ;/

I'm the quiet person who doesn't give ratings.

That took you 4 hours? Seems a bit long for something like that. The grass detail needs some work, there are around 12 different ground tiles that are walkable, try to use a lot of them but make the placement good. Take your time with the path, make the sides more zig-zaggy and use both types of dirt borders. Don't use backpals.

The back side of the cliffs. I think the problem is you dont have it lining up right. Try moving the straight side of the back cliff over left or right one tiles.
Covering 1 tile width of the back tile. Then copy and paste it onto the end of it so its still the same length. I'll try to use a little diagram since I cant show you since I'm at work.

back side of the wall there are two tiles that make up the back row. Move them over like so..
1212121212
/ .................... \ <How you have it.

2121212121
/................... \ <How you should have it.

Get what I mean? Its a matter of the back row not being lined up properly. (I think) So its making it look like tile errors.

This was posted in the other thread but did i fix it here.?

draygin 10-03-2003 07:27 PM

Nope you didnt let me make it easier to see.

Look right where the grass meets the cliff. When I say back side I mean the cliff ledge on the very top of your screen.

If you look at the top righ tof the screen you see where the grass meets cliffs and that the cliffs dont line up properly with the slanted tiles edge.

I'm trying to find a way to explain if cant get it this time I'll make an example when I get home.

But say the spot where you have two tiles. Inbetween the slanted tiles. Just simply reverse the places with the two tiles. /12\ /21\ The edge of the striaght part just needs moved over in that section.

take out the lighting effects until the big guys think you have it right ;)

His lighting effects look fine. Not as advanced as some of the more experienced users but definatly acceptable.
