Moderators might want to know.

I couldn't think of a better place to post this, so general works right?

Ok, GMT -6:00 is Central US. Correct?

It's 10:38pm and at the bottom of the forum it's reading:

All times are GMT -6 hours. The time now is 01:02 AM.

I've noticed this error with other boards using this same board format. Whoever can fix this needs to be told, it's confusing to say the least.

Qwert616 09-27-2003 07:10 AM

Yeah, the forum's time have been messed up for a little while now.

Raelyn 09-27-2003 07:12 AM

The GUA forums use the same forum-type, and I noticed thiers was wrong as well. Hah, that's really confusing when you need to know what time a post was made.

The 'forum type' is vBulletin.
Moderators dont need to know, Admins do.
You do know, there is a default time zone the admin sets for the forums and then if you want you can change it from your profile settings.

I don't think moderators have any power to control this. I doubt Stefan, unixmad, or Thym will go into the root source code to change this error for 1 person's picky benefit.

Lance 09-27-2003 08:48 AM

This has been discussed before - I personally have brought it up a few times, but the answer I've gotten is that it's the actual server computer itself has the time incorrectly set.

Raelyn 09-27-2003 09:44 AM

I'm sorry, I said the moderator might want to know, not that they themselves could do anything about it. I apologize if it has been brought up before, in that case I suppose they already do. I didn't mean to seem "picky", and it would probably help more people than just one as I am sure I am not the only graal player in the central US time zone. I should have never wondered what time my PM's were replied to etc.

Please, remove these from my post count. I beg you.

Your going to get along here just find if you have that frame of mind :(.

Raelyn 09-27-2003 10:13 AM

*blinks* You edited your post as I was clicking reply, you turned your smiley into a frown, that's not good. Now I am a bit confused.

I was going to say:

I normally don't like fitting in, but if sarcastic comments and forum debate would make me fit in, I don't have much of a choice do I?

*Ctrl+M*

Ignore Donald, he's the ultimate pessimist.

Raelyn 09-27-2003 02:08 PM

I don't want to ignore anyone, but I will consider not taking everything he says seriously, how does that sound? *blinks*

Heh, I might have to make a habit out of the graal forum, (Which until now I've never felt nessesary to log in to.) though, I don't know if I can handle such a violent assault on all of my replies/threads. *blinks*

I was just kidding around dude...

Fix the 0 views bug again, then upgrade the boards, then fix the clock.
It's not that hard to compensate for a few hours difference. So what if what you selected isn't your actual timezone? It displays the time right for you, so what's the problem?

As far as I can tell, the clock's inaccuracy is actually the cause of a number of problems, including the zero views thing.

The clock was still inaccurate when the 0 views bug wasn't here.

Yes, but it was inaccurate by a number of hours (almost exactly). When the minutes are displaced by a certain amount, the zero views bug returns. Why else do you think it has periodically fixed and broken itself?

I never thought of it like that. I always figured my computer clock was wrong.
