Import sprite definitions is to "import" a sprite from another gani.
"Add sprite definitions" is used to "add" a sprite. You click the "add sprite definitions" button to the top of graalshop.exe then type in the file name where you see "Image:" and the default text as "SPRITE"...I also believe this is case sensitive. In description you type in whatever you'd want to appear when you move the mouse over the image in the left column or so. The sprite index is where it would appear the left column, make sure it's unique otherwise it would over-write a sprite currently using that index. To get a perfect grid of the image you open it in ms paint or so and move the mouse to the very last bottom right pixel of the image...the first number you see is x, the second is y... Leave x,y as 0 in graalshop but put the lenght and height as the two numbers respectively. Make sure the transparency on the image is also set properly and boom, you're done. Oh...here's an example |
im havin a different problem...
i can get the gfx in, but when i try to set transparent background and save as .gif, background is just white if i make a black background, it doesnt appear in graalshop, but when i make a npc play the animation, the black appears |
Note: Graal is NOT suppose to use .gifs anymore....
In any case, to set a transparency on a .gif you use RGB 0 0 0 |
Ack, my mistake >.>
Been a while since I used Graalshop. |

Dragoncan, in your graal folder theres a program called gif2mng. Drag your gif onto that program and it will create it in a graal format. It works well. :P |
ok i got the gfx in there..sorta i can't see it, there just isn't anything there

You aren't a very good listener in school are you Drago? ^_^

Apologies for dragging up an old thread like this, but im getting into the graphics and gani scene a bit more, but i've encountered similar problems to our friend here.
I've followed the instructions both posted here by you, chris, and of that big guide in the other thread down to the letter but after using the "add sprite definitions" thingumy, and successfully adding -something- to the bar on the lefthand side, i find that there is nothing there. I followed everything properly, and have the right length and width, but the image on graalshop seems to be invisible; i can't see the graphic i've added, even though it claims that it has added it. Take a look... |
Do you have the Image in a Graal directory, or the directory the gani is in? I've seen PNGs that didn't work on graal, perhaps you're using a incompatible format.

Nopers, its a PNG file (cause my graphics program can save things as like loads of different file types o_O) and i copied it into the same webgifs folder as my graalshop. Doesnt work, but i'll try the gif2mng thingy...
|
It may be a PNG, but it may be the wrong.. something or other, I never really put any effort into figuring out what the difference was, but there is one, so do as.. someone said to do - drag and drop er onto gif2mng

Graalshop should get a better version, if I want to make my next ani (in a moving animation) I have to put the character in the next ani again, they should make it that if you click at the button to create a next ani it should copy the last ani so its easier to edit.
