jaja... I do 95% of my graphics ALL in MSPaint.
Although it is time consuming it is fun, abnd challenging.

BTW thanks alarid for the outline :) It was fun pixelling in.

Hehe, yeah it is annoying ;x.

DustyPorViva 09-03-2003 02:37 AM

I was just joking about that, but I also wanted people to know I don't use any filters on my work, as some would assume.

MedievalSmurf 09-03-2003 02:59 AM

 Wowoooooooooooo  , that pretty amazing . It looks like you spent alot of time pixelling that in lol :D . Nice work dude :D

Deek2 09-03-2003 04:23 AM

It's too dark, and it looks like you went overboard on the dithering.

DustyPorViva 09-03-2003 04:36 AM

Dithering can be used to give a good texture IMO, I also used to to keep the color count for brown to 8.

As for the dark... I dunno, can't really explain that.

Nick1988 09-03-2003 04:54 AM

Yeah, now that I look at it again, it is a bit dark on the right. It's still good though ;]

mhermher 09-05-2003 08:56 PM

That is not made in paint 100%.

paint can't do transparency. Enough said.

marcoR 09-05-2003 09:39 PM

*puts on white glove*
*screen goes black*
*you hear large smacking sounds, and other sounds involved in a thorough beating*
*screen comes back*
*ahem*
My work here is done.

DustyPorViva 09-06-2003 12:07 AM

Actually MSPaint does support transparency... on XP version.
But I didn't use that, I pixeled in MSPaint and then copy and pasted in Animagic...

alarid0 09-06-2003 01:05 AM

Not everyone lies to get people more impressed -_-

Not really.. i got XP, had it for about a year.. i have never seen aything such as transparency on ms paint.

DustyPorViva 09-06-2003 10:38 AM

I transfer my images to animagic, which does support transparency.

mhermher 09-06-2003 01:59 PM

Which makes it not 100% ms paint. :)

marcoR 09-06-2003 04:28 PM

let me smack him again? please?

mhermher 09-06-2003 04:55 PM

you wanna smack me? X:x

marcoR 09-06-2003 05:16 PM

just don't nit pick, or I will. say: "very nice golem, may I put my name at the bottom and call it my own?" that's ok, but nit picking will get you a smack =)

Just shutup already, who cares if he did the transparency on another program, you know what he means by 100% MS Paint.

MrCharles 09-07-2003 04:49 PM

I dont know what transparency is. :)

Ya, transparentcy means what it looks like, transparnet means see through, transparency means you set it so you can see through the color.

like your signature! :) the dudes arm is transparent

MadWolf 09-08-2003 04:16 PM

To clarify, the Golem was made in MS Paint. Yes, THE GOLEM. He never stated he 'drew transparancy' in MS Paint. Dont be so daffed.

I do all my GFX in Paint. Except transparancy and saving as .GIF etc.

Sheepiroth 09-08-2003 08:27 PM

I make all my graphics in PhotoImpact, which is actually a photoshop like program.. but you can turn down the anti-aliasing to make it draw like MS paint. It has all these cool options and brushes that are very useful for pixel art. It even comes with a GIF animator that I use for all my transparency needs.

http://www.ulead.com :D

I don't understand why everyone is always like "100% MS PAINT!!" other programs can do pixel art 10 times better WITHOUT filters :O

DustyPorViva 09-08-2003 11:26 PM

It was only a joke... since everyone else has been saying that.

And there is nothing wrong with stating what program you do your art in, MSPaint is in no way a handicap, I jsut clarified it was pixel pushed... no filters or tools involved, just line tool.

The only things I can think of that other programs have an advantage over MSPaint in terms of pixel art is layers and zoom, maybe pallatte.

Yeah, forgot about layers and zoom... and the pallete also, for custom colors... I think the most useful tool though is the magic wand that lets you pick colors of the same type so you can easily crop stuff out of the background/foreground :D

marcoR 09-09-2003 03:03 AM

paint does have layers, you just lose them as soon as you click away, or unselect it

DustyPorViva 09-09-2003 03:39 AM

Well I consider a layer just putting an invisible paper over a picture.
You can draw over it and not mess up what is under it.
Of course in MSPaint that feature is useless since it isn't permenant.

Well I did a kind of step by step of the texture I did:

Basicly, I did a random kind of cross lining.
As I carried on I added random dithering to help fill space whilst maintaining a good texture.
Some times adding light pixels to the darker sides help give the feeling of the rock actually coming out and catching some light.

marcoR 09-09-2003 03:42 AM

I won't comment on that, because I'm simpley too tired.

Curt1zzle 09-14-2003 10:13 PM

Looks good, I love it. Ignore all that crazy talk about too dark etc etc...It might be a bit dark but thats a damn good job on it otherwise. 11/10;)
