Just a weird idea o.o
 

1.How about having a main server you go to with a few toy npc's a cafe and lot's of chairs to just sit and chat and in there there are portals where you go in them to go to playerworlds and it has a sign with a description of it.

Or not, not could possibly work.

Isn't TB3 doing that on his server?

Well it isn't his whole server, he just did it to make it easier for players to get where they want to go, in his mind. Of course, it also means they need to go on his server more often. ;)

1.It will have descriptions of it and perhaps samples to see if you want to go there or not and it's good for searching for a certain playerworld.
2.it's also just a place to have fun and chat.
3.Perhaps he is putting that on his server but we need a server made just for that.

marcoR, this would be a "gateway" to the other playerworlds.

I for one, would like this idea, perhaps disable the serverlist or something.

This is how playerworlds originally worked on Graal, -- you had to walk through some sort of teleporter. (Anyone remember the teleporter in Stefan's house on old classic? :))
The only difference now, is playerworlds have their own servers, rather than on the same server as it was before.

I understand how it works, but todays servers are different from the ones the original graal was on.

I thought of that some time ago, not trying to take credit though...

It's actually a good idea, it'll tie all the servers together and make graal more like one game instead of dozens of games packed together. Think of it more as a main lobby then as a "chat server"

It would have to be separate from the other servers though, that way newbie's would be more apt to go there and maybe learn a few things before diving into the actual game... Hey! maybe make a tutorial type thing so noone can complain about not being prepared for the torturous and confusing graalian community! blegh

this latter part isn't as bad as the earlier... a chat server? you realise stefan has to store this data somewheres? and then manage staff and all th details I don't care to get into.. but perhaps a "lobby' wouldn't be as bad, when you said a chat server I pictured it as one of these two things:
1. A disgusting IRC like place.
2. a place with overdone red chairs, and coffee mugs all around, and books strewn about in a organized manner, like some fancy coffee shop.
And these two ideas not only scared me, they disgusted me...

You guys are forgetting that playerworlds are going to be very different. What bodies would be used on this server? What tiles? What style? Obviously it can't be a universal style that all playerworld owners agree with.

I'd rather not have somebody have to log on a portal server, as a default newbie character, with the default tileset, and then go to my server, which is nothing like where they just were. It's just weird.

It's easier to just ask Stefan to allow more details of the servers on the list, and more options. Like being able to have a favorites list for servers, or listing them alphabetically, by playercount, by rating, or whatever.

yeah, the whole kill the serverlist thing isn't such a great idea, what with all the different servers nowadays and the extra time it would take to actualy get to the server you want to play...

but we almost do need some kind of general tutorial and/or hangout

I don't want the serverlist gone i'm just saying that could be a feature on it and a hangout with nopking just chat and fun and possibly rping.

You would login to "lobby" You could all sit around and talk then decide to goto a server so you walk up to the door with a sign above it. Walk in and you are in Graal2001!. You could meet up with all your friends their. Sit around and discuss. I totally love this idea... *Goes off to ponder* but yea dont remove the server list lol

Possibly Graalympus. I can replace the intro screen with a lobby...you can set your appearance up for lobby chatting, select a world and set your appearance for that world (ideally by global strings reading what your appearance is set to on that world), then exit to whatever world you currently have selected...

aslong as the lag magically disapears that'll be best, what with all the fun gizmos and such *runs off with all the cookies*

Newbies? I would guess %90-99 of all 'new' people on Graal are just oldbies that finally decided to pay. :P
