The obvious answer to your question would be a swear filter.

You could always stop people from swearing by removing the chat text altogether. After all, who needs to talk to other people when all they're doing is levelling?

Ahem, seriously though, there's not really any way you can stop people from swearing, except for maybe imposing penalties for doing so, but then you'd need some sort of swear police.

Swear filters can only do so much, since people can obviously get around them, like if "pancakes" was a swear word, all they'd have to do is say p ancakes.

The best advice is to just ignore them really...:-/

Ragnarok Online once tried to put up a more strict swear filter, it'd keep you from saying things like "Pass the salt" or "Bastard Sword" (which was an item you could buy!!!) and basicly caused the end of most socalizing, it was not a pritty sight, people cursed more fluently about the filter then they ever did before "stup1d f1lt3r! P31c3 of sh" you get the idea...

Er, for the record: "pARSE the salt" just incase you're wondering...

(edit) Which reminds me; they blocked curses in other languages too.
