a few suggestions

-making state optional for the player
-making visible chat text optional for player
-an option to allow the player to change the music file to his liking, instead of having to go into options (like "setmusic sublime.mp3")

-mouse activated scrolling in the weapons list
-gridding weapons list, so to have a fixed amount of weapon icons per row, with straight columns, using (maybe) the largest weapon icon (in dimensions) as a guide for the rest (showing the names when highlighted or while hovering the mouse over)

I don't know why you would want the first two options (they're possible already with scripts, but why all the time?)

jake13jake 08-12-2003 01:58 AM

all the time could reduce lag and increase screen visibility...

visibilty meaning both screenshots and the fact that you could respond to happenings on other sides of the level quicker.

The amount of lag that chat text causes is underestimated, and you can't have 0 size text.

setmusic is also superfluous.

It is very simple code to allow a player to do this.

yea... put it on all the servers for me pls! :*(

yea... i thought of another one that would fit this post... ability to see your own nametag at all times so you dont have to type showname or wait till your AP changes.. good for staff if they forget they have tag on or something...

Chat text doesn't cause much lag. The GUI doesn't cause any.

You could just as easily use WinAmp.

jake13jake 08-15-2003 04:10 AM

it's probably exclusive to me that text makes me lag

SaijinGohan 08-15-2003 05:07 AM

Only in levels where you have 78 people pulling on a wall and chatting at the same time like we did on Old Bravo will you have excessive chat lag. :D

Kaimetsu 08-15-2003 06:30 AM

Drawing all the text might create some clientside showdown but, for the sixteen millionth time, that is not the same as conventional lag.

jake13jake 08-15-2003 08:40 AM

Lag is lag, whether it be video, C2S, S2C, clientside, serverside, memory, or spikes.

But the term is ambiguous. It'd idiotic to use it when describing performance in an online game.

Yes, clearly you are not going to listen to reason.
