Alchemy items - Something needs to be done!

How long has it been since alchemy items have been gone? At least half a year? I think something needs to be done to fix the balancing of the game.

Months ago ago, players could get alchemy items at low prices (compared to current ones). The price increase is probably partially because of inflation, but more importantly, because of how rare the items have become.

The problem with this lies with old players already having their set of items that they need, while new players cannot get armour, helmets, gloves (and bracers?or were those only even items?) and other items that are important unless they first find someone crazy enough (or lucky enough to get their hands on an extra set that they dont need) to sell it and have a lot of money to be willing to spend. Because alchemy items were obviously not built for the intention of being rare and limited, I don't think it's good to have them as such. This has been discussed several times, but nothing has been done. Whatever the final decision may be (deletion, allowing items to be created again, etc), it should be done soon. Other things are being added to the game before this is even fixed. Fishing and horses have been added. There's even been a new town added since the creation of alchemy items went away.

i agree with what you are saying

i also think that certain alchemy spells are abused by non-alchemists to make loads of money, which adds to the ever increasing inflation rate:\

Spells? Not recipes? Can you tell more? That sounds rather interesting.

UNPTWOPWINNER 08-10-2003 05:20 AM

Errr...I saw somebody sell about 5 mithrils the other day...so no the items aren't rare.

Really? Someone seemed so desperate one day that he was paying 40k for mithril. How much are they usually sold for? I say someone say "14k" once...

Unless I see 5 lined up in a row, I'd rather believe it was a scam... Also, I agree that alchemy needs some kind of fixing...

Races? It's "classes", sir. Anyhow, bringing back creation of those cool alchemy weapons would make the alchemist class somewhat better :p It would be a good way for money making. Maybe there should be a nice exp system set up where you get more exp for making better items.

edit: Maybe also make a chance for flaws? Like...you can end up making a mithril chainmail of berwean with speed+(insert big number here), but it takes away ac,wc,and important stats (like constitution). That would be good for traveling.

You knew what he ment.

Do you understand the drawback of bringing back alchemy items, armors, and even weapons? It leaves opening for higher leveled characters to make awesome stuff, and since they are so high leveled, they will be the only ones ones with incredible equipment.

Of course I'm probably wrong and you probably made this thread just so you could hope that the staff would re release them and you could have alchemy items JUST LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO PLAYED BEFORE YOU

:p

I played when alchemy items were creatable. I had a mithril chainmail of berwean and gaunlets of sorig. I gave away all my stuff though and started a new character :P

And I don't think what you said would happen. Someone would want to make money off them, and sell them to other players. It's like priests who can bless the highest. They don't keep this gift to themselves.

MKSLAYER 08-12-2003 12:52 AM

lol you had to pay a lot heres what i paid for mine:
scale mail of rugalli-150 plat

gauntlets of sorig -110 plat

Morning Star of Valriel- 100 plat

Morning Star of Rugalli- Gift

lol Kaiser2 (wtf where is he????!!!!) finished alchemy months ago i think in may or april

thelostviking 08-12-2003 12:53 AM

Btw i thought your account ran out?

UNPTWOPWINNER 08-12-2003 01:01 AM

If you don't believe me about the guy selling like 5 mithrils, ask NYChris, he bought 4 of them.

I paid lots? My items were given to me by friends. They had gloves of sorig, and gave me gaunlets of sorig. So nice of them.... :(

its not that the alchemy isnt done (i think) it's that the items arent released yet... things like snake's skin (even though snakes are kind of released X_x) and ghost's ectoplasm arent available yet... bat wings... then we'll be rockin ^_^

Well, I hope the old items are back also. You know...mithril and such...and also, I should have mentioned this in the thread itself...But I'll say it now. It's not just alchemy items. It's other items too that were once creatable and can't be created anymore. Like the ice daggers. If they weren't rare and limited when released, they shouldn't just become such. Things don't work well that way. This is worse than start island items. People can still restart, use a new account, have help from newbies, and such to get the shields and the dagger from start island.

wonderboysp2p 08-12-2003 10:34 AM

i do miss the start island very much but there's nothing special about the items there... the ice daggers are kind of a weird thing... somebody had said that they were removed for being too powerful... i dont really know why they were removed but whatever...
random alchemy was removed i think because either it was a bug or because everyone was goin crazy and gettin uber armour that could make them invincible to the monsters that were currently out... hmmm... its probably not either

If that's the reason (too powerfull) for removing items, shouldn't they have been removed from players also (or have their stats changed if possible)? I understand how flaming ice daggers would be too good. Didn't they have a rather high "damage+" considering that they also hit fast? I think I remember using one in a friendly fight with you once in the HH :-) I was using a friend's set of rather nice items at the time.

Nakamura2003 08-18-2003 02:32 AM

prolly the best way to make it so people don't sell the alchemy items is to make the items unable to be put on tables, market stands, and no one can come and pick it up off the ground but the person that made it.

and something to make it more rare is to make thems have a very high chance of failer to make them.

that's my input, let's see yours

Flame Ice Dagger - dam + 5 weapon attacks: magic, fire, physical.

This just makes things worse. First of all, if alchemy items are made producable again, then that means only alchemists get the best items in the game. If it's not made producable again, then things are even worse because you can't get these good items no matter how much you offer.

rofl, Yeah, and you asked "Are you using mithril?", but I didn't know how much mithril owned at the time (since it was given to me anyways). In fact, the friend who gave me it even told me you can get it in the HH's BMR... x_x

thelostviking 08-18-2003 01:28 PM

The recipes need to be done. I seen the original crossfire recipes a while ago, and i have to say that some recipes are already fixed like balm of first aid and more.
The recipes work but you cant get the ingredients for them. Thats why i think that stefan should add more enemys so that the recipes can be used.
There are for example armors or weapons missing to use the recipes, and some arent even made with cauldron but stuff like smithery or jewelers table (thats why the skill jeweler exists).
In crossfire you can for example make rof to roc with some ingredients.

I hope so. I asked Stefan through PM's about that one time, but it seems like you can never get a good answer from those guys. I asked if there will be a new "final" server at some point and he just said we'll have to wait and see if that's what's needed at the time....but then again, I do believe he also said there will NEVER be a reset on GK. A reset would fix a lot right now, though I'd much prefer if they just brough back the old items (everyone wins in this way, except for meanies who want to make massive cash from selling flaming ice daggers and alchemy items...this doesn't mean everyone who sells those items btw).

They should put random alchemy back in, and change the cauldron bombs back to instant killer, but only to the person who does the recipe, that way all's fair.
