Tell me how i can make this boat better because i showed this on doomsday and no one tells me how to make this better so i am showing it here i dont care what you say just say something that can help me make it better. Don't say i used some crap because this sh*t is 100% MS-Paint.

Tilt it back. Weird angle you got going on there.
|
What do you mean?
|
The pattern on every piece of wood looks too similar and it can be shaded using more shades of brown for a nicer look ;x
Edit: As a matter of fact, if you just took the lighter brown out of the side parts of the ship and made the lighter brown on flooring a bit more straight and almost identical on each it would look better. |
--Chris-- you took the words outta my brain and lay them out like a piece of art, well said.
[edit] not to mention the angle of some the planks don't corrispond with the rest, and really dont make sense. fix that too XP [/edit] |
i tried making an effect the planks get bigger by 2 pixels each time they go up, i'll try and add some lighter brown later when i have time.

Here, I just altered a bit oh and if the black you used is RGB 0 0 0 you should change it cause that's transparent on .gifs. The background of the image should be in RGB 0 0 0 though instead of white.

sheesh.. what are you some kind of naz-er those planks are way too perfect, and we need some knots in the wood! ;)
|
i like what you did but i dont like the bottom that much because sometimes a boat wears from the use of it in water.
Knots??? |

hey, atleast he was kind enough to explain, had it been up to me you would have never known.
|
Let's see, add some depth, n' use some of the tiles in pics1.png, to help you, maybe add some barrells or somet!
|
this is only the layout for what i got planned for this **** it isnt even close to done.

I made a quick fix to the boat... I put a wall on the upper part, where you would see a wall. :) You should probably go back and shade that, or make a wall yourself for it, because otherwise it lacks a lot of the depth it needs.
I'd also suggest trying a different color instead of the default brown from msPaint (or default brown in whatever paint program you're using) A brown that would suit a wooden boat would work. :p Maybe also have at least 3 shades... like a dark shade, normal shade, and light shade... adding little details to the boat will also help make it look better overall. |
im gonna be an anus since i have lived around ships my whole life. the bow top is not parral with the bottom this would create a very non-appealing boat irl and it looks bleh in game. like some one else commented the same with the stern of the boat. those to things are the main problems. im not sure if your making masts seperatly, but you do need to either:1)make objects on the boat 2) (the easier way) create objects such as the stearing wheel, mast etc. then add them in gani...yeah you probobly already knew that =P but o well...i think that chris's colors are more boaty. Theres to much contrast between the two colors on your orignal, of course color can vary between woods...but im not going into that. basically you want to have a contrast but a very tiny one and make each pannel different since no tree has the same grain.

*repeats what mkslayer said in a childish voice* yea, he hit it on the nose... im too tired to be awake XD
|
:o i dont like koni's :D, no offence..
|
(look at the g2k2 tileset and look for the big wood panel) thats what you want to have it look like XD
|
move the floor down... or make the walls taller.
Also the color looks really red to me... I dont know any type of wood that is that color. |
there's lots of wood that's red (red oak for example XD) but I doubt many of these would be good for a boat... :P
|
oops and another thing...just a reminder on the gani you might want to include: guard rails, mast, cabin, steering wheel, (maybe life boat)
