WARNING TO USERS: (Read)

The account "Cubed" is going on servers (well, he tried on Era), and is advertising a site (.exe in fact), that is a so called "leaked" v3 RemoteControl. (He masses out claiming VIP sucks, blah blah, you get the idea).

This application is 28kb, when you run it, it attempts to log into an FTP server and upload a TXT file with an account dump from your registry.

Please get your passwords changed as quickly as possible, this is just an account uploader, no trojans. (Well, in theory it is a trojan).

I will PM the information of the site to Globals (and the accounts that have been stolen from this).

[edit]
I have now disabled the site (the FTP password was cleartext in the application).
[/edit]

LoL, anybody that thinks Graal RC could fit into 24kb deserves to get screwed over. :p

I know! It's a silly VB application too

The newer version of Graal makes this kind of account stealing obsolete though, since it's not storing the account passwords in the registry... It's nice, except you have to type your pass in every time you open Graal. :(

The password is still stored in the registry.

And the fact that the RC doesn't use the new encoding method either.

Kaimetsu 07-28-2003 05:34 AM

I wonder... There could be two modes:

1) Password restricted.
2) IP restricted.

The first is the same as the new system - you need to enter your password every time you log in. The second would allow you to type your password and then specify your current IP as the only one allowed on the account - if you have the IP then it doesn't ask for the password. On the other hand, it would only really be useful for fixed-IP dudes, and people using the same ISP could try to adopt the IPs others have set. It would be a cool feature in principle, but it could lead to problems.

A website does that, you just put IPs in and it tells you location.

Until then, people can contact me by emailing [email protected]

You're talking about version 3 right? Because 2.2 still saves passwords.

Same thing goes if they download an exectutable file from some place, from someone they have no clue who he is.

Minoc 07-29-2003 02:58 AM

They don't deserve to be warned
Download something illegal --> get punished.
