your signature is too long, then it is not a reasonable size. If your signature is
distorting another users view in 800x600 resolution (such as large images) then you
must change it."

I think that sums it up. As long as nobody complains, then it's not too big.

Except that doesn't sum it up. It's horribly ambiguous. A 300-pixel height limit is enforced.
