woof, that tree is terrible with the dimension it looks like only the side facign us has leaves. Its like an angled view of the trunk then a straight side view of the foliage. You need to make it look more angled to match the rest of the tree. Then add some sort of a shadowed area like part of it isnt in direct sunlight, etc...

edit I just noticed it had a shadow so ignore that part but it still looks a bit odd on the shadow

dustariandigger 07-23-2003 10:43 PM

well its better than what some of us ..Like me.. Can do ;)

I like the texture but wil have to see the new treetop to see how it blends with the trunk. But the texture looks nice and if dont correctly I think it could look really nice. Although I'm wondering if the tree trunk will look to narrow not sure yet will have to wait and see when you're done.

The tree looks like a pinwheel, change direction of the leaves theyre like all going the same way (in a cirlce facing outwards)

konidias 07-24-2003 12:10 AM

It's quite apparent that you took the treetrunk from something else. Because the style doesn't match your treetop style at all. The trunk style has pixelated shading, and a lot of detail, while the leaves have little to no detail, and you freaking used a photo filter tool to make the shading on the leaves.

The treetop appears to be coming from the middle, like a weird pinwheel, when it should be more to the top. You should also never use that dark of an outline, when your layering the same image on top of eachother like the leaves. It makes it look disgusting.

- Detail the leaves
- Make them more random, it looks silly if all the leaves are perfect in a circle
- Shade the leaves by hand, not using some filter, you're never going to get a realistic shaded treetop using a filter like that
- You also need to change the shading from the treetop to the trunk, right under the leaves. It's just a straight line, and it's not even close to corresponding with the round treetop.

I would suggest different sizes of leaves, and pretty much what koni said. Nice 1 minute job.

DarkVillian 07-24-2003 10:17 PM

heh personally I think the trunk looks like koni's...

I agree, it looks like a pinwheel.

I agree, the shading needs to be fixed there. The treetop isn't square so the shading shouldn't be either.

First off: I didn't take the tree trunk from anything, exept my own drawing that i changed a little.

Yeah, about the leaves.. i were leaving the country for 24 hours (boat cruise or whatever it is called)
so i tryed to get them done fast... i'll change them since i'm back.

your "-" marks:

-1. I will, i was in a hurry to complete and test.
-2. Look above
-3. Yeah i know, didn't have time for that neither.
-4. I didn't do that, the shade filter did, will change that too.

DV, i don't see anything in that trunk that looks like oasis...

btw, whats a pinwheel?

I remade the leaves, made as zen and almost as all you said (Zen said start the leaves from the top, layer on layer.. so i did this)

BTW; i haven't shaded this one yet.
Oh and, i made new leaves since i forgot to save the last ones :X
