Graal Comic?
 

Yeah I know this has been attempted many times before, but I think it will be different this time around. I'd like to make a Graal web comic, featuring players. This comic will be hand drawn (not just taking snapshots of levels and putting cartoon speech bubbles over them). What I need, are some suggestions on which approach I should take. So if you'd be so kind, please answer the following questions. :)

1. What world should the comic focus around?
a) Graal Kingdoms
b) Certain Playerworld (please name)
c) All of Graal

2. What style would you like to see?
a) Anime
b) American
c) Doesn't matter

3. What quality would you prefer?
a) low quality (pencil sketch) - More comics weekly
b) high quality (computer edited) - Less comics weekly

As for the content, I plan on focusing it around only Graal. Meaning no talking about sports, weather, etc. Only Graal related things, with Graalians as the characters.

3. b - i cant stand low quality comics...it makes it so i dont wana read them and makes unenjoyable

I definately want to be a character. I have an old sig with what I look like on Graal, so if you want to include me I'd love it.

I think it would be difficult for all of Graal, mainly because while most are medieval, what would happen if you went from Classic to Era.

I think it would be funny. :p

Doing all of Graal is better in my opinion because you have so many many plot lines to work with. I personally think a classic vs. era standoff could be down right hilarious.

As far as the art, I'd say it doesn't really matter, but I would prefer old style (meaning fat heads and bodies) for the most part, but you could do some newer style for like GK stuff. BTW, if you need a writer, or ideas, I would be happy to help you. I find this sort of thing interesting.

The quality should vary depending on what you are drawing and what the plot is based on in my opinion. The drawings in a comic must reflect the plot and atmosphere of the story.

A - It would be entirely too confusing to talk about all of Graal in a comic. It really would. I'd say Classic, but Classic isn't a playerworld. :(
B - You're not Japanese, to my knowledge. Let's keep it that way. ;)
A - Low quality is the way to go. :grin:

Dante was the leetest person on the forums back in the day. He stopped coming to the forums and playing Graal, though.

Where will we find these comics when done?

Hmm this might be pushing my proverbial envelope... But what if I do two seperate comics, that cycle eachother? Like I do a GK comic, then a Classic comic, then a GK comic, then a classic comic... etc.

I'm guessing the style will just have to be something the comic would grow into. It will have it's own style I guess? :P As for the drawing quality. I'm thinking I can pull off CGing the comics, and still managing one comic a day (or every other day), so if you're really wanting them done in pencil, then say so. Because if you just chose the "low quality, more quantity" option for the quantity, then that's not a problem. :)

I'll probably need a website or something to put them on. Maybe I can get Graal to host it if it's good enough? I dunno, heheh. I don't think it would be wise to post them on the forums though.

I wouldn't mind hosting them for you. It's a pretty damned fast server.

Actually, I think the avatar style would work great. I'm sure we could be patient waiting for the comics, good things come to those who wait.

Koni, make a members area or something at the site with a forum or something, and more comics! Make it so people have to pay like 5 US$ a year for it, that way, you could earn money to your server hosting? :grin: (Oasis, not website) But make a non-mebers area too!
And maybe get it to some list of best webcomics so you could advetise a little for graal so we would have more players!

I wouldn't charge for them, lol. :p I doubt I even could in the first place. It's like you can't make Graal merchandise and sell it, even if you're giving some of the profit to Graal (or even if you're helping advertise Graal).

Edited screenshots could be done well. Except for the fact that every graal comic I've seen so far that has done this, always has content like "OMG WE R L33t!" "W3 OWNZ U ****Z!!11 LEL". Then there is the mindless killing, inside jokes that nobody gets, and totally unfunny dialogue.

They just haven't gone that well as of yet. I think Dante's and Gonmons were the only nicely done comics so far. Well... Gonmons wasn't really ever done, since it was just like one page... but at least the drawings were good.

Yeah, i still rember the "jolly olde" days when some wacko made a DBZ/Pokémon graal comic out of screenies, every one just said! OMG MAN THAT SUCK ASS! and he kept making it! ;) He stopped when Sisok made one he had painted in paint that actully was better. Damn i miss all the guys from KT :'( *Sniff*

Heheh, yeah that was the one I was talking about. I also forgot who he was. Funny though, you don't think you'd forget him after he constantly annoyed people by continuing to make those tremendously unfunny comics. I guess we just pushed him into the back of our minds.

If you need a guy from medival Japan, you can use my RP char, Myomoto from GK, just forum PM if you do Koni.

I e-mailed Unix to see if he will host them on the Graal site. I might as well give it a shot anyway. If he doesn't, I'll just have to find somewhere to put them. I'm just waiting for his word back. He should reply today or tonight or something. :)
