an idea for alchemy

i have an idea; you could put a sword and a gem in a cauldron and it would add different effect to the weapon. So if you put a ruby in the weapon would add fire damage and so on. and like a ruby + sapphire would add blind or something, this would make alchemy more popular

What if you add every gem? Would you get 'chaos'?

The idea isn't bad, yet, seeing how easy blessing is to get additional attacktypes, it'd be pointless I think. Then again, if the number of gems required was large enough, and maybe in a special combination (25 rubies, 13 saphires, 7 emeralds) or something... Maybe you could use them to make special swords (sword of XY) as long as the numbers are apropriate (say 10 saphires of great value).

if this did happen it should need a lot..I mean then pkers would have something stronger to pk you with ... Then if they bless like to govannon they get weapon magic. But with a ruby it gets fire,pearl..I dunno blinding,saphire..Frost?,emerald..Stun? I mean it would be so easier to kill people with them.. Like maybe 30 diamonds to add fire damage?

or maybe make it take up a slot on a weapon? or you can only add 2 different damages or seomthing to limit it

It should be limited to one or two additions, I think... and maybe it could add resistance instead of attacks - like 25 saphires add 5% of cold resistance (rubies for fire etc). The effect stacks till 25%...

nuuu resistances should go on armour and helmets

damage should go on weapons

Yes, let's make DianCecht even MORE useless by taking awway his special attack. :o

i didnt mean blinding, i was just giving an example, and the god-given attacks would be stronger than the ones the gems give maby?

Satrek2000 06-29-2003 02:17 PM

Okay, make it 25 gems for 5% of matching resistance to be used on armour - but only those without other specials, so no berwean with fire resistance. Or maybe, make it like enchant armour, that you need more to get a berwean with resistance (75 of any gems shouldn't be too easy). For weapons, I think it'd require the possibility to make additional attacks weaker or stronger - like 4 levels of attacktype, 1 requires 25 gems, 2 50 and 3 75 or such, while 4 is blessed...
