Writing Pens
 

Prices on 'Writing Pens' need to be lowered dramatically. This would encourage more mail being written, and postmen being able to do there jobs more often. This could be balanced by adding ink to the game ^.^.

Yeah, nobody wants to buy a pen for 600 plat that they might only use 1-2 times a month, if at all, and the people who do buy and use pens, once mailing a letter, never get a response because the people they send letters to don't have pens.

Hopefully Unixmad or Stefan will come across this and consider lowering the prices dramatically. Im a postman for Crescent, and I can safely say, that letters are not being written like they should!

They could always jack the price on the envelopes..ring any bells? ^.~

Exactly. It's rediculous how much a simple pen costs. I mean, it was commonplace in medieval times to use a quill. Now, those don't cost small fortunes - they're feathers!
I'd love to write to people, if I had an affordable writing pen.

Crescent has not had a Postman for awhile..found two letters of citzenship addressed to two people I dont think are around anymore..odd eh?

I mean you can use carrier pigeons to relay messages from the frontlines back to your leaders, or to other people, have bulletin board used so people can put up signs about selling items whole bunch of stuff >=)

My pen is one of the BEST investments i ever made. i must use it 2-3 a DAY to mark sacks, keys, scrolls. The reason the price is so high, is because a pen is a way to improve INT. if it had a low price people would be improving INT like crazy.

Not int, mental. If it was int it would be worth alot more than it is now :P And maybe you could buy a different type of letter, one that can only be opened by the person you're sending it to, so if you have any other people living in your house only you can read the letter from your friend, or maybe the local postman likes to read your "private" letters ;)

Someone gave my Barbarian a pen. I don't know if was by mistake or not(he was holding some stuff for me), I was going to PM him and give it back but he logged off :(.

I wish they did improve intelligence. I biught an Improve intelligence scroll and then I foun dout it didnt work :grrr:

You could always remove that, because it shouldn't be that hard. Then there wouldn't be a problem lowering the price.

To use any 'Improve <Stat> Bonus' Scrolls you need 2 stat potions (of that stat you are trying to improve) and a weapon with slots...it's basically if you want to get above 20 of that stat (because you can't use stat potions if you have 20 of that stat) so that's an alternative but that's a waste. I'd rather just use the 2 stat potions for 2 permenant stats or trade it for a stat I need boosted.

I agree. RPing need to be encouraged more and writing letters is a good point to start with. Like I said in the first post, you could add ink or something to balance this out, maybe even keeping the mental as well.

A chat room? An Instant Messanger? Paper Cups and String?

In my opinion, the graalish instand messager should stay as it is - you can help others, make your will to trade known and just get to know oepole. On-screen-chat can't do that, as you won't be able to take your look off the screen for a second without missing a line, specially when there are many involved - like in a guild...

yeah, I'm the Postmaster of Zormite and we never get mail.

Another problem would be that, what if players share a house? I tried to write a letter for a friend once, just to test the system, but she's using the same house as I am, hence her name doesn't show up...

Maybe it should be changed then.

For example, simply writing with a pen only raises a few points (or none at all). However, at some stores you can purchase research/study/work books. If you use the pen to write on them then you earn a significant ammount of points, and the book disapears.

Later books could be added like "The Art of Fighting" which would raise strength points.


Just an idea though.
