Pay Per Create Alternative
I thought of an Alternative to paying for Playerworlds. Stefan and unixmad can just make a package which includes NPC Server and Whatrever else is needed to host a Playerworld, and sell it for say $50. That way if I wish to create a PW, I can just host it on my computer. But players will ahe to enter Address of PW in order to go there.
Also another good thing is to have PWA and still have ability for PWs to go up for free, and stay up for free. But obiusly the Reqs for PW must increase and such. I mean the idea of paying for a PW is ridiculus. I spend my time making the god dang thing, attract players to Graal, constantly spend time on updating, and then I have to pay for it to go up and stay up. But anyway. Any comments? |
That is how it used to be done. Unixmad was selling gold and platinum licences for the *******s. I don't think he is selling them anymore.
But still, it would be really laggy having it hosted fromy our computer. :( |

Also if that happened, they would have to keep to standards with big tests every so many weeks.. |
I think you should be able to buy Gee Servers (I don't know why it's censored still >_>), yea :|

No. Certain elements would hack the software they rented to never expire (golly, nobody ever cracks shareware expirations, I wonder how they manage?), to not connect to Graal's central computers, and to operate independantly. Then they'd claim it's their own game, let everyone on for free, try to run Graal out of business, then sell out to Microsoft, and suddenly our beloved game is another MS title.
That'd be bad. I'd like it if there was a way to make a thin-server, something fairly innocuous that lets you share files from your computer to the Graal Main Servers, so they keep the heavy player-control software and you keep the levels, but apparently that'd be even less efficient than the current system - disk space is cheap, bandwidth is expensive. |

Tyhm, that would work, but if you did that, Graal would sue you before you could say "Hi"
