There are no staff on GK to meet the demands of the players
 

I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a restore, some people over a month or two, or even longer, like Ed and Rahz. I think that stefan should start making one day of the week where he is on for a few hours to JUST restore accounts and talk to players. If not, then hire someone that will do the job, and not be corrupt and give themselfs stuff or their friends.

I am going to laugh at the poor fellow who does this job.

I see the point that Stefan's busy, and that many people just spam him and or ***** about the decisions he makes - if he does. I also see that not making them prevents people from *****ing. Still, it's part of the service one can expect, or hopes to get... It'd be nice to do something about it, like to have someone check the requests and hand them to Stefan in a compressed form, so he can decide faster and easier.

99.99% of reasons for restores are either blatant lies or impossible to prove. Stefan would be well within his rights to ignore them and focus on more important stuff.

Thats true, but after all, this is still not the final server, and it won't be so easy to get this stuff on the final release.

However, for restores, all it takes is copying the log to your current mud file.

it doesnt matter if you get restored because theres going to be a restart any ways. although i think we should devise a plan to some how validate these claims. (wow..... that was a buisenuss like sentence!)

The actual restoration is easy, but deciding whether or not it is justified? No.

Kai, there are logs that are saved before you say /restart, so you just restore to that point.

And that other kid, Jagen is and will always be corrupt, giving himself and friends -- and I am not afraid to amit, even me -- free items. I mean, even I would give myself items if I was given the responsibility, it is a very very hard thing to resist, and I am sure none of you could. (Unless stefan had a system devised to log the actions of his staff)

Here is a plan for you: Don't type '/restart'. If you wipe your account then you are to blame, and you're not entitled to a restoration.

You would be surprised. Besides, you don't play the game as often as most people do.

And I restared because I could stand using stats below 5 because some bug messed them up and stefan said to do some fix_me and left, so I never seen him for a few days, so I restarted. -_- Now I want my account restored to the orgional exp, stats, spells/prayers and skills.

That was pretty stupid, wasn't it?

Everything would be fine if people just want a restore, not a partially restore, getting scammed items back, items they lost by accident etc. Of course it's nice when those things are restored too but it takes a lot of more time (checking if its true & good, removing it from the one who stole it or illegaly got it, adding the exact thing the player wants to have etc.).
When they are caused by bugs then I prefer to fix the bug first, then do the restore. When someone got an item stolen somehow then it's better to first code something to make it harder to lose items 'by accident'. I am sorry that some restores are delayed, I will try to spend some hours on that soon (this week).

If you play something that isn't completed, then wouldn't it make sense that you have accepted taking the risk to potentially lose information, by it being accidentally altered or lost due to a bug or crash?
The point of a work in progress is to finish it so it works seamlessly, not to go around restoring every little thing that went wrong with a because of a single bug at one time. Don't get me wrong, I'd be angry if I lost something, or my character. But I would also know that I took the chance of playing something that wasn't finished, and that I might not get any help at all.

He does not have the file rights needed to do so, to my knowledge.
It was most certainly a highly ungrateful job to do. Given that it is sometimes possible to determine wether claims are justified, and I mostly wasn't too strict about /restarted people (because when they appear in the /restart backup, the stuff in there is definately out of the game so there is no danger to dupe things when 'restoring'), I probably was of help for some people, but most of people dealing with me are probably angry because I could not help them.

Jagen probably won't be helping out anymore.

Like I've said so many times before, let me help out. You guys have nothing to lose. :\

.. and there are lots of people that can vouch for me. I wouldn't abuse the power, I can guarantee you that 100%. I'd do my best to help people out (yes, I do know what kind of things are in store if I'm given the job).

Oh well. You guys'll probably ignore my enormous Class-specific skills thread, too. It's your loss really. The more you ignore me, the less I care, and the more you show to others that you don't care .. I mean, you could at least post a response sometimes. Ah, but I do understand again that things are busy. That's why you need someone else to help out.

First it was Koni, but then he was gone .. then Loriel, but he's gone too. Look, I can help out, and I know I'm not the only one either .. but seriously. What have you got to lose? Even if I was "corrupt" and handed out free things, you could just delete them, and ban me. It would waste another hour of your time, but hey, big deal.

Not like you need to worry about me doing something like that, though. I've never even scammed anyone in my whole time on GK. I've been a little evil lately with lightning walls and summoned pets, but that's just because I've been bored. If people ask for the things they lost back, I return 'em. I usually get cussed out though .. some people need to lighten up.

The only person Stefan will trust now is Tyhm, and so help me god if he starts doing restores because I won't get any help from him... he hates me. :o

And Stefan, what about some admin to enforce the law, one to ban people or disable some things on their account (battle mode, attacking, sword, stuff like that...) as punishment.

Locke, you asked stefan for a restore because you lost exp in wisdom, and you KNEW it would happen. He denied, so you restarted and asked for a restore. Can we really trust a lier like you?

I'd certainly trust Locke with such things.

Zell, I wasn't lying. I restarted before I even asked for a restore, and from the beginning Stefan did not deny it.

I had no way of knowing I was going to lose such a huge amount of experience. If I had known ahead of time I wouldn't have even switched gods. Yes, I knew I'd lose experience, but I thought it would at least be a reasonable amount, especially seeing since experience loss from death was removed. However logic isn't always right, and I wasn't right, and I lost a ton of experience points. That's why I asked for a restore. I can't say I'm sure why I restarted, I suppose at the time I was overwhelmed with emotion (anger, upset, confusion) and thought that it would help him restore me somehow (seeing as restarting makes a save point in logs). It doesn't really matter now, it's in the past. Why you keep referencing it in attempts to lower my credibility is beyond me...

...but yes I will say again, Stefan did not ever deny me the restore. If he had, I would have said "Okay", and just gone on with life. I didn't demand a restore, I just requested one. The only thing I demanded, if anything, was a "Yes" or "No".

Now in response to your question -

Yes, you can trust me .. because I am not a liar. In all my time on Kingdoms I have not scammed anyone, ever, nor have I ever supported anyone in any way with such a thing. I don't think I even ever so much as lied about where I was going if someone asked. Now, of course, I'm not perfect or something, but I can guarantee you that I am a highly trustworthy person. Of course, as I said, if you don't believe me, ask those who do .. and there are many who do.

Well, I doubt highly that this will sway your opinion, because I don't think it's a matter of you trusting me or not. I think you've got something else against me, although I'm unsure of what that is. I think, though, that this may help show my credibility to some others here, and that's good enough for me. Okay, well, I'm done now ..

Why would I be looking for power? The only reason I'd be looking for power would be to abuse it, and that's not something that I'd do. All I want is to be able to help people out more and make the game more enjoyable for everyone. Is that truly such a horrible thing to want?

Personally, I wouldn't give Locke a job such as this. Regardless of whether or not I trust his honor, I certainly don't trust his judgement.

Wanting something and pestering to get something are 2 different things. You keep saying you want to help people, then help them, you don't need powers to help people. There should never be restores, I've played since the beginning and I've never needed a restore (except one time when I put too many things into my war axe, but you could actually see that it had too much and so it got restored to where I could use it). People say they lose things, etc. I think everyone just lies to get stuff, I've never lost EXP out of nowhere, ever. Everyone that asks for a restore is most likely, lying and wanting free items, unless they can 100% prove that they aren't.

To be honest, I think you're too jaded to understand where I am coming from. I'm not going to constantly explain myself. -_-

Yes, I can understand why you would not trust my judgement. I have made some foolish choices in the past.

.. but judging someone solely on what they have done and not on what they have the potential to do .. is unfair, I think.

I've gotten to the point where I won't even take the simplest risk. A close friend of mine asked to borrow one of my magic rings, and I said "No". It's not that I don't trust him in particular, it's that I have difficulty trusting anyone. I don't really think that my judgement is much of an issue, if one at all, anymore.

Hey, you are pretty smart. It is just a game. I know that, it's about time you realized that. However, I pay for this game, and GK is not a "beta" or testing server no longer, and it should have the staff to support the community.

Personally I wouldn't have locke do this job, not because of lack of trust or integrety issues, simply because of the fact that editing mudlibs requires extreme knowledge of mudlibs and how they work. One simple mistake can completelly destroy the account and/or kill the npc server.

I would maybe help out if stefan would give me rights to do so but I don't really want to listen to people complain to me, I had enough hardships while being the head figure for EMs to make me glad that I don't currently play.

The hard part is obviously finding someone who fits the criteria:

-someone stefan trusts
-someone who has knowledge in the area
-someone who can deal with all those people complaining
-someone who would be fair

few people fall into that category.

Here's a radical idea for ya: The things you've done in the past imply things about your character, and thus about the things you'll do in the future.

And I don't think you know what I mean when I say that I doubt your judgement. To be specific: I think you would restore too many people without fully considering their situations.

As usual, I'm sure he'll be back. But these tantrums hardly put him in a good light as a potential staff member.
